It's nice they included someone to help LeGree with his luggage...how thoughtful...

Appaholic,

What's your take on LeGree. Is he in the same range as Lynch from '07? As good as AE was in that game I left thinking that Lynch was a hell of player. He's with Tampa now correct?

I'd be interested to hear the App perspective on that question but from an opponent's perspective Lynch was 10x the player because the guy made every big play and was a leader. He had great talent, seems like a great person and had all the intangibles- a winner.

Just looking at the safety position, I'd have to give it to Legree over Lynch. Corey's special teams ability played a large role in him getting drafted where he did and making the team in Cincinnati and Tampa. He blocked a bunch of kicks in college and already has 2 or 3 blocks in the NFL. He's essentially a kick block specialist, though he did get to see a fair amount of playing time this year at safety due to injuries.

From a physical ability, he's comparable or better than Lynch. But I'd take 2 Lynch's for 4 LeGree's. That's not an indictment on LeGree per se, but Lynch was a gamer and part of a stellar defense. When I think of LeGree (& recent defensive players for that matter), I think of McNeese St, Elon (statistically), UTC (statistically again), Nova, et al lighting our defense, especially our secondary, up for big games. Until our defense returns to mid-'90's form, no amount of individual talent is impressive to me.

nailed it. not an indictment of LeGree, but Lynch made a great defense even better. Legree made a decent defense good at times.

SCFBF, heard that TJ got his combine invite, but I haven't been able to confirm it anywhere. Have you heard anything?

good blurb on Kilgore from the Texas vs. Nation practices:
Play actually got a bit chippy, with Appalachian State guard Daniel Kilgore being at the center of the fracas. NFL offensive line coaches appreciate the way he plays through the whistle on every play, keeping in contact with an extended arm and bullish tenacity.

He knocked off one defender's helmet during two-on-two blocking drills in early practice, then got himself in a few dust-ups throughout the rest of Tuesday's session. He got leverage on a few defenders, standing up LSU's Lazarius Levingston in pass protection, but his short arms (31.5 inches) got him in trouble when talented players like DT Kenrick Ellis (South Carolina/Hampton) easily swiped them aside.
