Drinking at Tailgates
Hey UND and NDSU fans, what are the chances of this proposal of banning Alcohol at college sporting events ever becoming law? This was posted on Bobcatnation by an MSU alum living in North Dakota.

Personally I think this is a really bad idea!

In a similar story UM is looking to go completely tobacco free sometime this year. The big concern is how it will be enforced at tailgates. I have to admit, I'm curious how they will try and stop people during the tailgating. There are simply too many people spread out over too large an area.

Open alcohol containers are illegal in public places in the state of Washington. Hence all the "alchohol is prohibited" signs at Roos Field. Of course it's completely unenforceable and the fuzz leave you alone as long as it's in a red cup and you're not being an asshole about it.Vidav wrote:In a similar story UM is looking to go completely tobacco free sometime this year. Re: Drinking at Tailgates
Banning just makes it more popular.
Been the guest of many State College/Universities in the past 7 or so years and here is what I have found..
Places where they sell beer at the games seem to have very little problems with drunks, and they make money at it.
Places where they allow tailgating have very little problems with drunks, and they fill their stands with fans.
Now then, for the rest of the nation. You may see signs posted about the parking areas stating that alcohol is prohibited on state property, in these venues I would never even consider-
Keeping alcohol drinks stashed in the bottom of a cooler that is contained within my vehicle, and transferring said liquids into either a plastic cup, or soft drink bottle while disposing of the original container into a trash bag also secured inside my vehicle.
Or, If I were to decide to violate the posted regulations I WOULD have to do my best to-
Act as if it is my right to carry on as I wished, including being loud and obnoxious to everybody around me, and be sure to not pick up my trash, and go out of my way to do what ever it took to inspire the authorities who placed the ban on the state grounds in the first place to begin a rigid enforcement of same regulations.

Someone should notify david2. He doesn't approve of people lingering at tailgates during halftime and this would appear to be exactly the mechanism he has been looking for to make everyone else share his priorities.

I love dbags like that. If he (whoever he is) bought my ticket then it would give him some dominion over what I do I suppose. He doesn't though so he can go suck a dick for all I care.griz8791 wrote:Someone should notify david2. Sac State allows open containers in the parking lots on game day, however, beer is not sold inside the stadium.
There are also places on campus where you can buy/drink beer between classes
I agree with others, it'll just make more popular and could possibly make it more dangerous. It's going to happen regardless, it seems as though enforcement would be too difficult and may be more of a headache than it's worth.

If it looks like a cow, smells like a cow, and moo's like a cow, it's a UC Davis coed.

Re: Drinking at Tailgates
Maybe I should attend a tailgate, for the first time ever, this season before UM does something crazy like banning drinking.

Guess you have to give recruits some reason to go there...MrTitleist wrote:U of Wyoming has a beer garden in the middle of campus.Herky wrote:There are also places on campus where you can buy/drink beer between classes![]()
