Tie one on Jones
Is history at EWU, going to the NFL. I actually don't see him as a running back at that level. He seems way to small weight wise. His legs are about the size of my arms. It will be interesting to see how he does and what position he ends up in.

Re: Tie one on Jones
I know the league's "evaluation" isn't always accurate, but there HAVE been scatbacks who have done well in the NFL. Joe Washington comes to mind fairly quickly. Apparently, the evaluation of a 3rd round pick was good enough for him. I used to think that most guys needed a high 1 evaluation to make this monumental decision. I guess that hasn't been the case for quite some time.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

have to admit that I was curious to see how teams would game plan for when Taiwan and Mario were both in the backfield.

Too small??? Do you watch the NFL? He is 5'11 or 6'0 and Deji Karim is 5'9 playing in the NFL. In fact look at the Pro Bowl rosters. Most of the top backs are 5'11 or shorter. Chris Johnson, Ray Rice, etc. are all under 5'11, like 5'9 or 5'10. Jones is possibly a little taller than some teams would like.polsongrizz wrote:Is history at EWU, going to the NFL. I am talking bulk, which he has none of. You are talking 200lb 5' 11 backs. TJ is 6', and 200lbs. So I guess I should of said too lanky.SmallCollegeFBFan wrote:Too small??? Do you watch the NFL? I'm sure he'll put on some weight before entering the draft. I am too lanky for the NFL, Pols, not Jones.polsongrizz wrote:I am talking bulk, which he has none of. You are talking 200lb 5' 11 backs. TJ is 6', and 200lbs. So I guess I should of said too lanky.SmallCollegeFBFan wrote:

Me too. Right now it's looking like teams will have to game plan for Mario Brown and Demitrius Bronson (UW transfer), so maybe all's not lost.Montanan wrote:have to admit that I was curious to see how teams would game plan for when Taiwan and Mario were both in the backfield.
I'll maintain, though, that TJ is one of those special players that comes along maybe once in a decade. For those that are skeptical, I'd have to imagine they just haven't seen him play enough. It was a cryin' shame he couldn't show what he can do in the chipper. EWU was a much different team with him in there.

I actually think he handcuffed EWU, and they were better without him this past season.EWURanger wrote:Me too. When he was in the game it seemed like the coaches were so focused on getting him the ball, getting him his numbers, etc... Without him they were able to put a full game plan in place. Looked like a much better team.

Re: Tie one on Jones
Agreed. He's one of those Reggie Bush type players whose presence in the backfield alone causes defenses to focus a lot of their attention on him, which opens up a lot of other options around the field. You're much better off not trying to force it into his hands every down.clenz wrote:I actually think he handcuffed EWU, and they were better without him this past season.EWURanger wrote:

Re: Tie one on Jones
I think there's some truth in what you're saying. We seemed like a more complete team when we couldn't rely on him. That said, it sure was nice having someone who could potentially take it to the house anytime he touched the ball. He was exciting as hell to watch.clenz wrote:I actually think he handcuffed EWU, and they were better without him this past season.

So it's that extra inch that makes you go from bulky to lanky?polsongrizz wrote:I am talking bulk, which he has none of. You are talking 200lb 5' 11 backs. TJ is 6', and 200lbs. So I guess I should of said too lanky.
