I don't think the demonization of the right will be quite as effective this time as it was when Clinton blamed Republicans for Waco and Oklahoma City.

In the first place, the non-left has achieved a larger critical mass, at least for the time being, and they know dang well that they do not stand for violence against innocents

In the second place, hysterical and disingenuous cries of "racism," haven't worked. There is no reason to believe that the equally hysterical and disingenuous cries of fomenting violence will work, either.

Finally, the left cannot control as much of the media as they did in the mid-90's, and cannot stand scrutiny of their own even more violent, vitriolic, hateful and incendiary speech:

I've mentioned it before, but I still think its funny that when WBC picketed an NDSU FB game a few years ago, it just happened that the local waste management company sponsored the game and parked two giant, brand-new garbage trucks on display on the pavillion area right in front of the FargoDome. The only place left available for WBC was way off to the side where no one had to get too close.


Ignoring and drowning out ala Patriot Guard is the right answer. They keep everything legal as far as permits and such, and several of Phelp's kids are lawyers, so they'd like nothing better than for some machismo guy to show up and start a fight.

They are almost never near the event going on. They are always placed well out of the area of the funerals, and so forth that they protest. If you want to be offended by their display you have to drive by them on the street or search them out normally. The thing is that people do search them out to confront them and chide them and get their point out. As I said they usually get what they want because people are too fucking dumb not to fall into their snare.

those trucks weren't an accident... that idea came from the student senate (well, a bunch of sitting in the Union during lunch) - when someone mentioned the sponsor was waste management - a couple of us had the idea at the same time - my thought was to put roll-offs between them and the crowd - but the new trucks were a much better idea... the President's office took the suggestion to WM and they loved the opportunity to get their trucks out there.
