A real national magazine is a great idea. Lets hope it sells enough to keep it going.
I can't wait to see the CSN responses to this....

There are more players from Delaware than Appy State in these lists...HenZoneNation wrote:Man...these guys love them some Appy St.
(if my 'control-F' function using 'Delaware' and 'Appalachian' is working correctly)
EDIT: Of course, by Delaware I mean both schools in that state

Re: Phil Steele Makes Two Big Announcements
I love that Phil Steele will do a FCS only mag - I'll buy one. I like the Devlin 1st team QB too, don't know if he necessarily merited 1st team - probably looking more on pro potential there than anything - but should definitely be on the list.
UD's defense still must really be some no-names, our DB's get the shaft, a 3rd & a 4th team....

Devlin is the best QB in the country. I don't see how he can't be on a first-team? I fully expect CSN to have him first-team as well.bluehenbillk wrote:I love that Phil Steele will do a FCS only mag - I'll buy one. To be honest I think that is the most love your secondary has gotten and I would agree with it. I don't think you guys have a stud draft pick or a guy who stands out from the rest but you have the best unit in the country. I think top to bottom it is tough to pick who the top two DBs are in your secondary. From what I saw on film I think they got the first and second team DB lists right for sure. Ryan Steed is a stud to keep an eye on. Depending on what his official measurements and 40 time are he could be a top 5 round pick in 2012.

Re: Phil Steele Makes Two Big Announcements
Actually I think they gave App less love on defense than anyone else. They did not have Smith or Fletcher on the first team and I fully agree there.HenZoneNation wrote:Man...these guys love them some Appy St.
The only real love they gave to App that nobody else has is they have Kilgore and Quick on there but I expect both of them to get a shot in the NFL. They both had great years and to be honest are better players than Fletcher or Smith. Kilgore had a great year and really got the shaft in the Jacobs Blocking Trophy voting. Quick would have had 1200 plus yards and 15 TDs had they just thrown him the ball as much as they should have. If you ask SoCon coaches around the league they will even comment on how they are surprised and happy ASU does not use Quick more than they do. You also have to judge his blocking as Quick has become one of the most devastating blocking receivers in the SoCon as well.

Re: Phil Steele Makes Two Big Announcements
Nice to see Matt Gratzek finally show up on an All-American team, best defensive player in the MVFC. When he came back from a midseason injury it completely changed our defense.

Re: Phil Steele Makes Two Big Announcements
Is this an 2010 All-American list, or a NFL potential future draft pick list? Not sure what a players official meaurements and 40 time have to do with their performance on the field in 2010...

Re: Phil Steele Makes Two Big Announcements
Agree with this. What the player is/has done here is what this should be about. There draft potential should be a different topic and those different considerations should be addressed in that fashion.bandl wrote:Is this an 2010 All-American list, or a NFL potential future draft pick list? I don't understand why it gets mixed. Are they a true All American based on what they've done here? Good then they are an All American based on that and that alone.

Re: Phil Steele Makes Two Big Announcements
Read what I said again. I was simply pointing out that depending on what his measurements and speed will be he could be a high draft pick because he is a great player. Steed held Brian Quick in check, shut down Alshon Jeffery when he faced him one on one, and simply continued to shut his side of the field down. I was just pointing that out to show just how good Steed might be.bandl wrote:Is this an 2010 All-American list, or a NFL potential future draft pick list? And no this is definitely not an All-NFL Prospect list because the UNH CB has no shot at playing in the NFL but he is on there. It looks to me they picked the best players period not going strictly by one thing. They have the toughest matchups and most talented players who dominated when given the chance over guys just because they had some decent numbers. With that said, everyone on their list looks to have very good numbers.
Another example they clearly aren't going by NFL stock as much is because Brian Quick has the best NFL stock of any receiver on the list yet he is on the second team. Will Rackley is a projected 3rd round pick according to the ratings the NFL Scouting Combine sent out to teams, which believe it or not is higher than Ijalana got, and yet they picked Ijalana as the top lineman in FCS.
But to point out this apparent bias against NFL prospects I do hope that folks realize the best players in the world are playing in the NFL so if a FCS player is going to play in the NFL and he is productive in college I don't see how you could argue their listing on an All-America team. I think you have to have a good balance of the two. Look at their QBs. They have Moses and Presley on the list but yet neither of them have any shot at playing QB in the NFL. Just because I am pointing out a player has great NFL stock does not mean I think they put him on because of that but simply showing that the guy is better than your average All-American because they will play on Sundays.
Re: Phil Steele Makes Two Big Announcements
Damn I wish he was a junior this year! Gratzek should have been on all the all american teams, its really good to see him get a little recognition. He has the potential to line up on Sundays and I believe he will get his chance, probably not drafted, but definitely a free agent contract. Congrats Matt. I think our punter Prelvits could have gotten on one of these teams as well.Ursus A. Definitely, probably one of the players I enjoyed watching play for the Bison the most. Hopefully he get a shot to play on Sundays. This pic sums up Matt's playing style perfectly....Ursus A. The jumble of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th teams was annoying to read. So I threw this together to help others... If people like it I can do similar ones for other organizations all american teams.
