App State has an impact on BCS rankings...

Post by mountain_man »

"We hate to keep harping on this stuff, but they make it all too easy. The BCS standings are slightly off — LSU at 10 and Boise State at 11 should be switched — and the perpetrator is little Appalachian State."

What hogwash.

Everyone knows that playoff games, by definition, are much tougher than regular season games. The fact that Appy beat Western Illinois in WIU's SECOND playoff game (i.e. more recent playoff experience, plus Appy coming off a hiatus) says to me that this is MORE impressive than a regular season 28-point win. This is equivalent to AT LEAST a 35-38-point win and should be regarded as such.

Of course, the B(C)$ elitists don't even recognize that playoffs exist....

Did someone tell the computer that James Madison did not even MAKE the playoffs? How much did Virginia Tech get devalued because of that? Or does head to head not count.

My favorite...

"I was at this "meaningless" game.
It was anything but meaningless -
it's this thing called playoffs,
our subdivision has them to decide a champion.
It's a novel concept"

Interesting...Boise jumps LSU because App. blew WIU out of the water? But I thought Florida proved how overrated App. State and the whole SoCon is?

By how much was App. State supposed to beat WIU to stay where they were, anyways?
