The MEAC crew was dreadfully one sided. They didn't even try to appear impartial.

Let me just go on the record right now while I'm drunk and say that UNH makes me nervous. We haven't played them in forever and the memories I do have of them aren't good (something about the debut of some guy named Santos).

GF and brother Bill, please talk me down. Let me know how we're going to beat these bastards. I need inspiration.

Btw, I looked back to try to spot you guys but was unsuccessful. I'm coming up there next game to say 'hi'. Be warned.

Anyone see the UNH-Cookman game? UNH has 19 penalties for 151 yds?

Start by looking at the UNH game stats from today. 19 pennies for 151 yds and avg 3.4 rushing/avg against a MEAC team. Do that Sat in Newark and the Cats have a long day in front of them. But we've single handily made UNH heroes before too. Have another beer 93. At this point they are all scary.

93-

I was there today yelling, you should have stopped up. If you want to feel better, nobody has stopped Devlin all year. UNH is banged up somewhat and has laid some big eggs this year - Maine and URI. Honestly they concern me too, but we haven't played them since '07 so there's no real familiarity if that could actually happen in a conference game. Our DL will be healthier next week (Morales and Atunrase) so the pass rush can't get worse.

If you saw a guy with a UD helmet stocking cap on being really obnoxious in row D, that was me. I even had the three little kids in front of me yelling at the umpire after that PI call in the first quarter. I apologized to their dad for being a bad influence and he said it was all good.

UNH isn't terribly banged up, to be honest. I get the sense that Toman being out was precautionary, but UNH can win with either of their two quality QB's, so no worries there. Dontra Peters got hurt early in the last game, but returned later and looked as explosive as usual. I think he'll be fine next week. UNH's two starting TE's came back as well, and while Matt Evans and Steve Young both came off the field, both looked not terribly serious. With the exception of Devon Jackson and Mickey Mangieri (both have been out all year) we should be relatively healthy.

I think the keys are as follows:

1. How does UD contain Dontra Peters? He ran wild on Villanova but has been shutdown by other teams. If he gets off, UNH is pretty hard to beat.

2. How does UNH contain AP? Devlin is obviously capable of beating anyone, but UNH needs to contain AP and force UD to be one dimensional.

This is UNH's best defense during this 7-year run, by far. They struggled with tackling a bit against BCU but allowed nothing in the second half.

Odd that the only CAA battle we'll likely see in the playoffs is between two teams that didn't play in the regular season. Possible concern for Delaware: they've given up 20+ points in the last 3 games after not giving up more than 17 in any of the first 9 games. Fun fact: New Hampshire has two players on their team named Chris Chandler & Steve Young. :thumb: That won't be enough to win this game, though.

Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:

      • Quarterbacks -- Delaware

        Running Backs - Delaware

        Receivers/TEs - (push)

        Offensive Line - Delaware

        Defensive Line - New Hampshire

        Linebackers --- (push)

        Secondary ---- Delaware

        Kicking ------ (push)

        Punting ------ Delaware

        Return Teams - New Hampshire

        Kickoffs ------ New Hampshire

          • New Hampshire 20-27 Delaware

I'm not sure UD's offensive line is better than UNH's (it certainly isn't bigger) unless you're just going by sack total. That said, UNH has the best linebacker in the CAA (or at least up there with McBride and Holmes), so it's hard not to give them credit for that. Secondary, as well...there are 4 seniors including a first-team all CAA CB, and we lead the CAA by far in INT's..

Bad news for UNH: the stiff wind we've had all week has finally stopped. Devlin is pretty darn accurate even in the wind (I think he only had two or three passes sail or die in the wind last week IIRC), but in the calm you better hope your DBs can keep up with the long ball. Should open up the run nicely too.

UD has 4 senior DB's as well - all 4 of them made one of the three all-CAA teams, best back 7 in FCS.

4 mph wind predicted :D Agreed 93; last weeks 2rd and 3rd qtr offense for the whole game this Friday will be tough to beat. Pierce gets one more start but is under zero tolerance; the ball touches the ground (lost or recovered) and it's Hayes the rest of the way.

Agreed with Pierce - you can't have fumble-itis this time of year. Having some success on the ground is critical tomorrow for UD.

I'm not worried about UNH running the ball on UD - no one's run on UD all year so I don't see that changing. I am worried about UNH getting out of the pocket and completing passes like Lehigh did and putting up the yards. Plus I'm worried about the QB getting yards on the ground. UD will need to be stingy in the red zone and limit the TD's (like they did with Lehigh - all those yards and they only scored one TD when the game was still in reach). I actually like the matchup of UD's offense against UNH's defense - Devlin is going to throw for a bunch of yards and I like UD's ability on the OL to pass block. I'm not sure Pierce is going to get gobs of yards, but I think UD's going to move the ball well and put up points. If UD can score 30 in this game they win going away. Anything less than that will be a nail biter.

This is the game UD needs to win to get to Frisco - I love the matchups next week if we get that far - option teams will not be successful against this defense. This one's for the title game and I think the Hens come out firing on all cylinders with a real loud homefield advantage (smaller crowd than usual, but this will be a fiery and vocal one). I go with UD 31-21.

UNH doesn't run very well & they give up a ton of sacks; that doesn't say much for their O-Line.
That said, UNH has the best linebacker in the CAA (or at least up there with McBride and Holmes), so it's hard not to give them credit for that.
I did. That's why I called it a push even though Delaware has 3 LBs with notable stats while UNH only has 2.
Secondary, as well...there are 4 seniors including a first-team all CAA CB, and we lead the CAA by far in INT's..
The individual stats for DBs were about even. What gives it to Delaware is that they have one of the nation's top pass defenses despite having no pass rush whatsoever.

A typical 9-6 CAA football game is not good for FCS
