They were at least improving in prior seasons. They didn't do that this year.

Downing avoiding a canning would be a huge shock.

45-8 entering this week. The least amount I missed for a season was 9 (actually was in the first season I did these), so I need another perfect week for a chance to top that. Not much room for error and some tough games this week. Five games involving the Big Sky this weekend, three conference and two non-conference (both involving future Big Sky teams). Only Montana State does not play. Here are my predictions. All are my opinion only.

Southern Utah @ EWU---Arguably the best team in the Big Sky hosting arguably the best team in the Great West. The Eagles are coming off a bye week and get a game preparation before their conference finale next week. Southern Utah has played the Big Sky already (lost to Northern Arizona), will this game be any different?...EWU 27, Southern Utah 20.

North Dakota @ UM---Losing to Weber State, seriously damaging playoff hopes, taking a week off, then playing this game before the annual rivalry game with Montana State. Quite a tall order for the Grizzlies this week as they host a pesky North Dakota team. A possible trap game, given the Grizzlies psyche, and having Montana State coming to town next week. The Grizzlies will need to get this game over in a hurry...UM 30, North Dakota 20.

UNC @ PSU---A game that has to be played. Both teams started the year with great aspirations, that have since been dashed. Now, both are playing out the string and hoping for next year. Sad to note, both teams are not playing well. One team will feel better after this game. Home team prevails...PSU 34, UNC 17.

Sac State @ ISU---Two teams playing better as of late. The Hornets are making a run towards a very slight chance at a playoff spot. The Bengals are playing spoiler and while they are not getting the wins, they are certainly scaring a lot of people. Weird things happen in the Bengals barn, but the Hornets have won in Northern Arizona's barn. They should not have much trouble here, but other Bengal opponents thought the same thing...Sac State 35, ISU 14.

WSU @ NAU---The Wildcats are trying to close the year on a high note while the Jacks are trying to avoid the collapse that has dogged them in recent memory. A home game for the Jacks should be just great and a wonderful sendoff for Herrick and company. But the Wildcats should not be overlooked...WSU 25, NAU 21.

4-1 this week, only have my team to blame. 49-9 for the year. Pretty respectable but I need to be perfect next week to match my lowest total of misses in a season.
