CAA Predictions Week 10
1st the standings:
Towson: 1-7/0-5: Eliminated from playoff consideration
URI____: 3-5/2-3: Eliminated from playoff consideration
Maine__: 3-5/2-3: Eliminated from playoff consideration
7 Contenders to get the necessary 7 Div I wins to get in.
-Yes, JMU and UR are still contenders until they get a 5th loss. The fat is lady is warming up for both teams. She'll be singing for one of them about 6:30 PM on Saturday.
-Looking at the national standings, its likely that anywhere from 2-5 of the 10 At large will have only 7 Div I wins, esp considering that a # of contenders have played a Div II.
-7 Div I wins out of the CAA is close to a lock, as a 7 Div one win out of the CAA will get in over any 7 Div I win from any of the other full scholly conferences, and ahead of 8 Div I win teams from the MEAC, Big South, NEC, Patriot.
-I only see a 7 Div I win CAA not getting in if there were 6 CAA teams with 7 or more Div I wins, as I can't see more than 5 CAA teams getting in. Still possible 6 CAA could finish with 7 or more Div I wins, but highly unlikely
Listed in order of least likely to get in (JMU and UR) to near locks Nova and UD:
JMU: (4-4/1-4)
11/6: @ UR

Re: CAA Predictions Week 10
Game of the Week has to be W&M @ UNH.
W&M (6-2/4-1)@ UNH: UNH by 1-7 points. Now W&M winning wouldn't surprise me, as I expect a close game either way, but UNH is coming off of a bye week after 3 straight impressive victories over UR, JMU, and UMass, and W&M is having to hit the road (or should I say air) for the 2nd straight week after a tough loss at UNC. W&M will be down to their 3rd string QB and Grimes may not play due to a concussion:
http://hamptonroads.com/2010/11/caa-rep ... rosh-start" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
W&M seems to have UNH’s # though the last 7 meetings between the Tribe and Wildcats:
01’: W&M 38, UNH 28
02’: W&M 34, @ UNH 27
03’: W&M 38, UNH 28
04’: W&M 9, @ UNH 7
05’: W&M 42, UNH 10 (UNH was undefeated and ranked #1 at the time)
08’: W&M 38, @ UNH 34
09’: W&M 20, UNH 17
Last time UNH beat W&M was 1998. McDonnell has become Laycock’s bitch. But I think the streak ends, and UNH keeps their playoffs hopes solidly alive.
JMU (4-4/1-4) @ UR (4-4/2-3): JMU 10-7, eliminating UR from playoff contention. JMU hasn't lost @ UR since 02'. The road team in this rivalry has won 6 straight. Ok, maybe this is a homer pick for me, as I said on the JMU @ UR thread I could see UR winning 10-7. Either way, buckle up your chinstraps for an offensive shootout. Get ready to watch a combined 17 points and 350 yards of offense.
Towson (1-7/0-5) @ UD (7-1/4-1) by 21-28 points. If Towson was playing UD say 3 weeks ago (same week as UD played URI) this could have been a trap game for UD. But UD, with a by week to stew over their loss @ W&M will likely bring their A game, or close to it, and win comfortably at home to lock up a playoff spot.
Villanova (6-2/4-1) @ URI (3-5/2-3): Nova by 14-21. Not a cakewalk on the road for Nova, but they win relatively comfortably to lock up a playoff spot.
Maine (3-5/2-3) @ UMass (5-3/3-2): UMass by 7-14 points, keeping their playoff hopes solidly alive.

JMU @ UR: Spiders have the bigger heart (nothing personal JMU) of these 2 teams. They've been dealt some bad hands this year and keep playing their hearts out. UR by 3
Towson @ UD: Hens run up the score. UD by 35
Villanova @ URI: Rams play tough but Nova squeaks by. Nova by 6
Maine @ UMass: Mixed on this one. UMass puts on a show or gets sloppy looking ahead 1 week. Either way its UMass.

I asked my brother, a JMU grad, for an over/under on the game this weekend. He said "10." I still might take the under.

JMU @ UR: - Spiders have the more heart and the home field advantage. UR in a squeaker where a TO makes the difference.
W&M @ UNH: - Ok, I'm a homer. This would be a great time for the streak to come to an end, but Caprio and Jones step up and give a glimpse of a bright future. O-line and D come up big.
Towson @ UD: - Hens put up big numbers. Towson doesn't have an answer.
Villanova @ URI: - Rams are better than anyone thought at the beginning of the year but Nova survives on the road by more than a TD.
Maine @ UMass: - UMass at home. Transfers meld into a unit and Maine is penalized out of a chance.

W&M @UNH: UNH gets to face another (UR) 3rd string QB it seems. Both Tribe lines need to play big and should. Close win by 6.

On December 12, 1775 the Continental Congress created a Battalion of minuteman from the three counties in Delaware. Kent county militia were fans and owners of Game Cocks; Fight'n Blue Hens as they were called. The Fight'n Blue Hens became known far and wide as the very best Fighting Game Cocks around. Thus, the Blue Hen was established.
