Montana's opponents have a knack for playing like crap the following week.
Week following Montana game:
Western St. - lost to Chadron State, 40-7 Cal Poly - lost to Texas State, 21-12 EWU - lost to Montana State, 30-7 Sac St. - fell behind 37-10 to MSU before rallying to force OT (lost) NoCo - lost to Sac State, 42-7 NAU - lost to Sac State at home, 40-10, in a must-win game
Only Idaho St. & Portland St. have avoided the curse. Both teams suffered close, but not unexpected losses to Weber.
So I guess the curse applies unless the afflicted team plays Weber the following week.

For Weber, playing UM is a blessing.
In 2008, the Wildcats beat MSU 35-12 in Bozeman the week following the Montana game, and in 2009 thumped the Lumberjacks 27-9.

Except that most people figured UNC would lose to Sac. Perhaps not as bad as they did. But most figured on Sac to win.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

But UNC did play like crap, which was the point (they played close games against EWU & MSU). They lost to Sac by about the same margin they lost to Michigan St.

If that's your rationale, yeah, I can accept that.
But if that's the case, most expected Sac to lose to the Kitties. How does Sac then get on your list?

They didn't have Orms available and playing when they played Sac. Orms came back and played the EWU and MSU games.

Smart money on Weber next week, then?
That might be a bit too far as a prediction, but I would not be surprised to see Weber win out in the Big Sky to finish tied with one of the Montanas (whichever one wins the state cup) for second in the BSC behind EWU and an win at-large bid to the playoffs.

That's certainly a possibility. However, if Montana State loses out (and one could say Weber is a trap game) and and Idaho State beats EWU (given this season and ISU last-game history, that's not out of the realm of possibility), I think that gives the title to MSU on basis of head-to-head.
Yet whatever happens in relation to the title, I'll bet a dollar to a doughnut that EWU will be cheesy enough to claim that Montana's reign is over even after Montana wins the Chipper (which I believe they will).

Dude - that's BF that says all that stuff and if you hadn't picked up on it most of it is tongue in cheek anyway. And as far as Montana winning the chipper......well, I don't know about that. But hey, that's why we have a play-off system.

You want to put $ or FCS gear on that? I guarantee you Montana will not win the NC this year. They might not even make the playoffs...
I'll accept that, Ranger. But you'd have to include SE in that, too. You're clearly a decent guy, though. You've brought great sportsmanship to the boards, even when crazies like me go off.

Had to go back and check the date this was posted - thought maybe it was an old thread from another year

Hey, you never know man. No one can argue that Montana has a ton of talent - don't count em out yet.

WTF
We'll win it all if we make the playoffs, get matched up with a Southland at-large, then get matched up with an NEC team that upset a seed, then get matched up with a OVC team that upset a seed, then beat the MEAC team that's in the finals, and have a lot of things go our way in all of those games, like not having 4-6 turnovers

I'm not about to count them out - at least in the game we'll be playing in a few weeks. But winning the national championship is a bit of a stretch I think. Nothing's impossible, but some things are fairly unlikely.
I'm worried about both Weber and UM. MSU and both of them have played great and lousy at different times - just not sure what to expect.

If I had enough $$ to sustain a bet, I'd go in on a wager with Ranger.
