Hoagie,
Ultimately, I don't care, because nothing ever changes. Should the Conks take over the House, big fvcking deal. Everything happens in the Senate. The House is just a bunch of wannabes. It's like junior college for state representatives.

Note to all Conks counting chickens before they hatch:

If your goons get in, the situation will be much worse than you perceive it to be now. Your Neanderthals will spend all their time trying to undo Obama stuff and not tackle the real business of the land. It will all be for show. End result? Worse gridlock, Conk style, which sets the stage for Obama's second term where he will turn it around on Conks, convince the nation that your thugs are obstructionists and win in 2012 by an even larger margin than in '08.

You can pontificate and recklessly predict and so can I. Careful what you wish for.

Undoing Obamacare, replacing it with about three to five sharply targeted reforms, freezing or reducing taxes and reducing federal spending IS the most important business of the land.

If the Republicans do no more than this and reduce federal spending by 5% to 10%, they will have been by far the most successful and productive Congress in sixteen years. As a result they will have produced the stability necessary for robust economic growth and employment.

If they also impeach the sitiing federal judges who have have mangled the Constitution, fire 10% to 25% of federal employees, and eliminate public employee unions, they will have been the most successful and productive Congress in the past 100 years. 8-)

Too bad America is just going to replace these idiots with more idiots.

Good thing here in CA we have nothing but the elite and the best of the best running for office. We don’t have to worry about getting stuck with some guy who has a track record for taxing the bajeezus out of everything or a completely hideous looking woman who hasn’t voted in the past quarter century.

Read 'em ages ago, Hoagie, and I haven't forgotten much of it, either. Suggest you read them for once, though, instead of talking about them all the time.

You, however, have liver spot-like plaques on your brain caused by listening to too much Conk radio, thus spoiling your capacity to discern hype and fact. You are a Hannity wannabe, mostly because he's 40 years younger than you.

1. Hogan is right on the issues. But, he is too kind, gracious and magnanimous.

2. As of today, Real Clear Politics average predicts 214 safe/likely/leans Republican, 180 safe/leans/likely Democrat and 39 undecided seats. Most analysts expect a majority of the toss ups to go Republican.

Holy Cow! In only three days, the Repubs have jumped from 214 to 220 leans/likely/safe seats projected in the RCP average, a gain of 42 seats. If they split the 37 toss ups they will have made a 61 seat gain.

They'll win 50-60 seats.

Pretty standard for midterm election of a first term President.

No, skelly. Since WWII, the average midterm House loss has been 24.06 seats for the President's party. The average for the first midterm has been 25.6 seats. The average loss for the second midterm (there have been only five two term Presidents since WWII) has been 21.0.

Dem midterm losses during a Dem Presidency have averaged 29.7 seats. Repub midterm losses during a Repub Presidency have averaged 19.7 seats.

Presidents whose popularity was less than 50% at the time of the midterm averaged 33.8 losses in the House. Presidents whose popularity was above 50% averaged 12.8 losses in the House.

The President whose popularity was closest to Obama's at the time of the midterm election was Carter, whose popularity stood at 49% when his party lost 11 seats.

Anything approaching a 50 seat swing or more is called a wave election. There have been 4 to 6 since WWI, depending on how you count. There was one in 1946, in Truman's first term, in favor of the Republicans (+55), 1948 (not a midterm - coincided with Truman's re-election) in favor of the Democrats, 1994 in Clinton's first midterm in favor of the Republicans (+53), 2006/08 in favor of the Democrats (+30 in 2006 +21 in 2008), and 2010 will be a wave election in favor of the Republicans. 8-)

Why do you say stuff like that "...50-60 seats. Pretty standard for midterm election of a first term President???" I thought you did your homework and knew your stuff. :ohno:
