CAA Separation Saturday - Part 2

Post by bluehenbillk »

UNH & UMass @ Foxboro(ugh) - The Battle for New England, both teams were headed in opposite directions & then pulled 180's last week, UMass losing at home to a wounded Richmond & UNH topping JMU in Virginia. If UNH loses you can probably count them out of the playoffs with 4 losses & still some doozies left on the schedule. UMass tries to rebound & playoff position as well.

JMU @ Villanova - 'Nova woke up last week & smoked Maine. Question is will Szczur play this week? Loser of this game gets loss #3. 'Nova still doesn't have a real quality win this year, unless Maine or Penn count for that. JMU beat VaTech, and then has been downhill since, with a predictable & ineffective offense.

Delaware @ Wm&Mary- UD is in the conference driver seat & could solidify that with a win this week. The Tribe start a murderer's row portion of their schedule & need this one with almost a sure loss (@UNC) staring them down next week. Nation's top defense vs an improved W&M offense with Paulus, plus two of the best backs in the league with Grimes & Pierce.

Villanova will rip JMU by at least 20.

I think UMass will take down UNH. Big line should wear down the Wildkitties.

UD vs W&M is the tough one. But, with Morales and Walters returning, if they are healthy and get good minutes, I'll take the Hens by 10.

The lines come out today, I'd anticipate the Nova/JMU game being the largest spread, maybe even double figures...

I'll take all 3 home teams. W&M less than a TD. Mass by a TD and Villanova by 10-14.

By the most technical definition, UNH is the home team in the Colonial Clash. I think more UMass fans will be there but in general they're expecting 30k or so, so I expect it will be pretty neutral in general.

30k for a UMass-UNH game  UNH isn't having quite the season they normally do, and UMass just came off an abysmal home loss. I understand this is a rivalry, but this is New England, not App State or Montana. Heck, last yr UNH @ UMass wasn't even a sellout at 13,108

Wren is correct that technicially UNH is the home team...but UMass has been marketing this game big time to alums in eastern Massachusetts who normally would not drive out to the Happy Valley for a football game...

UNH is also marketing it and this is not far for them either, so, while I won't predict 30K...if it happens, I will not be surprised...

I like UD by 10, Umass by 10-14 and Villanova by a narrow margin over JMU. It is put up or shut up time for the Dukes and I predict Mickey has them ready to play.

the high attendance will be because of the location. As Col pointed out... lots of eastern Massachusetts fans will show that dont normally like to drive west for games.

 2 UD fans who are mired in Rhode Island are also making the drive to check out Gillette and watch a good football game. Lookin forward to it!

If Richmond's scout team can survive Towson this weekend, UR will move ahead of the UNH-UMass loser and the JMU-'Nova loser (well, a tie with 'Nova if they lose). Then they might start getting some starters back, and Laub...they're not dead yet.

Remember, in '08 UR went to Amherst after their third loss of the season and never lost again...

Are you going to get up at half time and change sides?
