Well, the local chapter of the Chamber of Commerce can't say I didn't do my part. If you're coming out, have a safe trip.

Montana/Portland State game week
Yeah, I'll admit it. Football season is fun, but more so when you have a home date against Montana, due to the numbers that travel from Missoula. This week is our week to host, and as a resident of the great city of Hillsboro, I'm looking forward to it. I'm trying to hold off the rain (all kinds of trinkets and doo-dads hanging from my porch). Anyone coming out, keep in mind that Hillsboro Stadium is approximately 15 miles west of PGE Park. If in need of accomodations, we have hotels and motels to fit any budget (just remember to look under Hillsboro, Oregon, not Portland). A 5pm kickoff means a lot of time to visit the area of Hillsboro. Many wineries and brewpubs abound as well as other things, too. Also, the Roloff's pumpkin patch is open (the "Little People, Big World" family).

it'll be a hell of a game
Re: Montana/Portland State game week
Interesting matchup. Montana doesn't emphasize the run like they used to which may play into the hands of PSU's defense since they are very talented in the secondary.
Montana's blitz pressure with Severin Campbell is on another level and how effective it is will probably determine the game. If PSU can keep the turnovers down it may put a scare into the Griz, but the Griz are very good at generating turnovers.
It will be worth watching. Sambrano vs #24 is worth the price of admission.

If Sambrano plays. He left well before halftime yesterday with an ice pack behind his left shoulder, and never came back out.
I sat by his father yesterday, and he wasn't a very happy camper after he came back at halftime.

No games are gimme's and this one is @ PSU. The Griz still have not put a complete game together and are making enough mistakes to drive me crazy still(not like I need help either!). I keep waiting for things to get cleaned up, but it hasn't happened yet, lest we forget Pocafello last year. PSU has shown they are not going to roll over and if I wasn't working on my car this weekend, I'd make the drive up and watch this game.

No, PGE is under construction for the upcoming soccer season, Portland's first in the MLS.AZGrizFan wrote:Is this game NOT at PGE?
The game will be out in Hillsboro, where the Griz played the Vikings last in 2000.

Just like the Sac & NoCo games: if the Griz stop the run, they win.
The Griz are second in the Big Sky in run defense and are allowing just 3 ypc.

Any PSU opponent that can stop the run and force Kavanaugh to throw the ball has an excellent chance of winning.Mvemjsunpx wrote:Just like the Sac & NoCo games: if the Griz stop the run, they win.

Have you been paying attention at all this season? Sac's Bryan Hilliard leads the Big Sky in rushing. Not to mention the Griz played Cal Poly, an option team (& held them to 2.9 ypc).cats2506 wrote:Ahem, playing ISU, UNC and SACMvemjsunpx wrote:Just like the Sac & NoCo games: if the Griz stop the run, they win.

Don't bother reasoning with him, it all takes a backseat to his UM hate-crusadeMvemjsunpx wrote:Have you been paying attention at all this season? Sac's Bryan Hilliard leads the Big Sky in rushing. Not to mention the Griz played Cal Poly, an option team (& held them to 2.9 ypc).cats2506 wrote:

Re: Montana/Portland State game week
UM has got to be slightly leary. PSU is not the bottom feeder they were when the man in black was in charge. by no means do i think PSU is more talanted than the griz, but i do believe PSU is exponentially better than ISU and UNC. the griz will not be able to go through the motions and beat PSU, ESPECIALLY if the continue to put the ball on the ground. you give this PSU team some momentum, they can punch you. the game last saturday could've been much different had MSU had any turnovers.
even though they're not currently the conference leader, the griz still have that target on them. PSU has a good d-line taht will get after a stationary QB, and a good secondary as well. the pistol offense has a lot of misdirection, and they run the ball very well. don't know about the passing game, but they do have a big TE that ripped up the bobcats for a quarter.
i also like their coach. traditionally, PSU was full of trash-talkers when they came to bozeman. these guys were pretty much all business; even when they had an early lead. they didn't have a lot of penalties. at teh very least, they seemed disiplined, which says a lot about the rookie head coach.
