YSU @ NDSU BISON*

Post by JBB »

Things have been very busy around here preparing for UNDS announcement later today of a new 30,000 seat retractible roof stadium and a WAC invite. Apparently an old prospector hit it big, used to play football for UND and now wants to pay it all back. But I digress. Let me opine on Saturdays game:

Look at conference stats, conference games only, NDSU looks bad. At or near the bottom in most major categories is surprising enough but to be the #1 passing team in the MVFC is the real surprise. Its not a solid stat, they dont have a passing TD, heck they hardly have any TDs, but it is something to build on.

NDSU doesnt care if YSU gains 224 on the ground and scores twice, maybe 3 times. Thats a given, let em have it if they can get it. What NDSU has is the pass. Open it up, get the yards, score the points and that dangerous running game that is so far been mostly in the background is right there to pounce and blow this thing wide open.

All the NDSU defense has to do is stop their running game and that means Jamaine Cook. He has had 100 yds in each of the past 3 games. His backups are freshman but they are highly regarded, although they don't have the stats to show.

For NDSU its show or no-show. If they lose they are in a spoiler role for the rest of the season. If they win they still have hope. So far they have been an up and down team. By that I mean performance has not met expectations. There are some big wins, some heartbreaking losses and a couple games were good for stats. This game is the game that will define the season as good, bad or ugly.

YSU has a 3-1 all time edge in the series and is ridding a 3 game winning streak. Playing them at home doesnt make this appear any easier for The Herd. I dont know where The BISON are staying and we arent sure what their plans are tomorrow. I understand kickoff is 4.07 pm. I would expect them to move to the stadium about 4 hours prior to kickoff.

I think we all feel that way Gil. Are we on the brink of mediocrity? I sure hope not. A loss here closes a lot of doors and Im sure will take some of the pep out of the season, but regardless of score we must maintain our habits of hard work, fruitful and organized practice, study and good diet. From there a good understanding of the fundamentals of football provides all the foundation you need to bring the best out in a team like ours. That's what we need to strive for in tomorrows contest. Tomorrows game will tell us how well the team and coaches were able to hit on those "practice fundamentals" for a successful football team.

FEFF:
Here's something I've heard about this, not sure if it's true or if this is just a rumor. My source claims to have heard it from a sub-contractor involved in building the new football stadium.

So my sources says that the announcement is about a very large donation from a former UND football player that apparently played some Canadian football and owned several gold and diamond mines. He apparently sold his mining company and is donating money to UND. Again this is a bit of scuttlebutt but you never know, it might be true. I suppose we'll all know after tomorrow afternoon.

They are expecting around 16,000-16,500 tomorrow if they can get the usual walk-up of around 1,500-2,000. Weather is going to be beautiful in Youngstown. 75 and SUNNY after a weak of nonstop cold rain from the north....

YSU is a 3pt favorite.

Not sure who is going to start at RB. Coach Wolford said that Adaris Bellamy, Rivals 4-star, will get a lot more carries this week and made it sound like he may get the start over Jamaine Cook. Allen Jones, local freshman stud, was moved up to 3rd on the depth chart. Heard Cook may have a minor injury, but that is purely a rumor.

I hope you get a good walk-up. I think your average attendance is just north of 17,000 similar to NDSU. Should be a good crowd.

We heard about Bellamy during the off season. As he works his way in you will have a great one/two punch at running back. Are their running styles complimentary?

Right now its clear from the field reports that the BISON faithful are decidedly more rowdy this game day eve than past weeks. In some quarters it is bordering on belligerent and aggressive. There is clear excitement and anticipation spreading throughout the ranks of the BISON Green and Gold. It is of course our hope this attitude includes the team and is spreading from the core of the BISON Football Empire. This is what has been called in the past

"A BIZON UPRIZIN"!

The Thundering Herd is BACK EAST!

GO BISON!!!

ONE MORE TIME FOR THE OLD AC!!!

GO BISON!!!

No, but a winning season would move you closer.

The BISON have moved to the stadium!

The game is not on channel surfing as of now.

A webcast is here. Its pay:

https://admin.stretchinternet.com/client/ysu.portal#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Audio here free:

http://www.gobison.com/liveEvents/liveE ... =2400&KEY=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Video feed starts at game time, audio feed at 2:30 central time. Kickoff 3:07 CST.

It will be a small contingency of BISON fans today as our team strives to take a step ahead of the pack. There will be some thinning of the ranks at the top and NDSU should move up with a win and position themselves with upward mobility in the MVFC. I feel today is the day for our boys to stand up and show their skill and knowledge of the game of football. Our coaches, among the nations best, should have everybody ready and our team will shine in every way!!

The game will be on TV in North Dakota.

The Herd is "BACK EAST"!

Things are moving fast. YSU is no longer 100% in the red zone. NDSU is controlling the game 28-20.

Bad feed. Drops out all the time.

NDSU is looking good.

1 qtr to go.

Espn is saying NDSU just went up with a TD with 30 seconds left. 34-29? Guessing they went for 2 and failed.

Crazy end to the game according to BV gdt. NDSU wins!

From what I can piece together, we were up by two with ~2 min left, got in the red zone, and then missed a 25yd fg. :ohno:

YSU then rocked down the field (after we once again couldn't hold them on 3rd down :ohno: ) and got the go-ahead field goal, with 1 min remaining. :ohno: :ohno:

NDSU got a good return...I'm not sure what exactly happened but there was a defensive holding call, and NDSU got in the endzone. ~34 seconds left.

YSU fields a short return, and then fumbles, which NDSU recovers with 28 sec remaining to win the game. :o  :o :) :D

Hopefully that's about right...obviously I wasn't actually watching the game.

With about 40 seconds left Jose Mohler hit Justin Howard on deep post for a 45 yard TD.

What a game. The atmosphere in the crowd was simply amazing and the comeback by YSU looked to be magical like so many in the past, but it was all for not.

Congrats NDSU on a big win. League is still up for grabs by just about everyone except ILSU.

IlSU is still 2-2 in conference. Too bad they have UNI/WIU/NDSU/YSU left.
