The pats weren't going to resign him anyway. I'm sure they would like to get something, rather than nothing.

Re: Moss to Vikings?
maybe if they were 1-3 or 0-4. But the team is 3-1 and are the highest scoring team in the NFL 1/4 of the way through the season. You dont give up a significant part of an offense for a 3rd round pick just because you're not going to re-sign him.DJH wrote:The pats weren't going to resign him anyway. Plus the only way a deal will be finalized is if Moss agrees to an extension... so the Vikes wouldnt be just renting him for the rest of the season... 3rd round pick is undervalued...

Re: Moss to Vikings?
He has 9 catches through 4 games. He's on track for a whopping 36 receptions, 556 yards, and 12tds this year. 12 TDs is a good chunk of points to a typical NFL team, but currently he hasn't been a big part of the Patriots offensive production. He's also 33 and on the tail end of his career, so that lowers his value some. A 3rd round pick sounds like a pretty good deal, especially when his contract expires at the end of the season and it doesn't appear they're going to resign him, or that he wants to be there.UNHWildCats wrote:maybe if they were 1-3 or 0-4. 3rd pick is undervalued? Remind me again, what the Pats traded to the Raiders to get him?....UNHWildCats wrote:maybe if they were 1-3 or 0-4. Making more sense now. Reports are that Moss showed up today and got into it with Belichick...

Re: Moss to Vikings?
Why would the Vikings want him back? Did they learn anything the first time? Besides they should be trading for a QB.

Yeah really. The Pats wouldn't be looking to unload him if he were still at the top of his game. The fact that his numbers are down is a pretty clear indicator that he is not as great as he once was.UNHWildCats wrote:Really?BlueHen86 wrote:

The Vikes already HAVE a good QB. What they should be looking for is OL.

I think that remains to be seen. I think you are right and that the problem was that Favre wasn't ready to play when the season started. He might be ready to play now that he's had a few weeks.SuperHornet wrote:HI54UNI wrote:Why would the Vikings want him back? Did they learn anything the first time? It is also possible that time and injuries have caught up to him.
I think we'll know in a couple of weeks.

Favre needed a weapon. Now, Favre has a weapon. I'll let Billy Madison explain it:BlueHen86 wrote:I think that remains to be seen. Pats traded a 4th round pick for him and are reportedly getting a 3rd round pick for him... that math seems to say his value is up... not wayyy down.BlueHen86 wrote:Yeah really. Re: Moss to Vikings?
The math might also say that the Raiders made a bad trade. Do you really think Moss is more valuable now than he was 4 years ago? You are basing your argument on the Oakland Raiders.UNHWildCats wrote:Pats traded a 4th round pick for him and are reportedly getting a 3rd round pick for him... that math seems to say his value is up... not wayyy down.BlueHen86 wrote:

Re: Moss to Vikings?
Favre is pushing for this transaction. His top target, Sidney Rice is injured, and Berian can't go up for the ball like Rice or a Randy Moss. Harvin isn't the guy either. Also letting Chester the molestor Taylor go has hurt the offense. Toby Gerhart just isn't picking up the slack yet.HI54UNI wrote:Why would the Vikings want him back? Re: Moss to Vikings?
Deal makes sense, you have to believe this year is finally the end for Favre so they'll go for it for the one year. With Sidney Rice coming back eventually, I'd guess it's a one-year rental to get Moss.

Re: Moss to Vikings?
I read that he may be the first player to play back to back Monday night games for two different teams.
Clearly, no looks from Brady on Monday doesn't portend very well for your future with the Pats.

Re: Moss to Vikings?
This. Wasn't there a part of the Packers not going after Moss that lead to Favre's initial retirement, or were those reports overblown?Gil Dobie wrote:Favre is pushing for this transaction. Favre loves to gun sling down field and the Vikings lost that thread when Rice pushed his surgery off and is now missing half the season. Moss is still a viable deep threat. Moss deep, with Berrian, Harvin, and Shiancoe covering the middle and short routes...plus throwing Rice back in there when he gets healthy.
I know I'm a "homer" on this, but bring Randy in and the field opens up for AP. The Vikes now have a guy who can, and will, torch you deep. The PA pass for MN just got a whole lot better.
Now, this trade could go very very wrong for MN as well, hopefully Moss stays happy for at least 6 months.
