I thought about listing this game as well because it will prove which of these teams is "for real". This game is especially important for NAU in terms of national respect.BigSkyFootball wrote:Big Sky Conference "Game of the Week" (with national ranking implications)

Walter Payton Award Watch List Battle: NAU QB Michael Herrick vs EWU RB Tawain Jones
Herrick threw for over 400 yards against the Eagles last year, but his receivers aren't as gifted this time around
If Jones is healthy, the Eagle RB could do damage to the much-improved Lumberjack defense
Game has BSC title implications

Stephen F. Austin at McNeese State
New Hampshire's lost to two bad teams. Are they actually bad or can they prove Richmond might not deserve to be ranked either?
UNI's struggled. SIU's struggled. Home team has won for years...except for last year when SIU pulled away in the conference @ UNI. Will UNI assert their dominance of the Valley or has SIU gotten over losing most of their starting secondary?
The best team App. State has played so far is....Jacksonville? Chattanooga? Is Elon going to prove they deserve their ranking or get blown away?
Is Georgia Southern actually good, or has every other team around them just played poorly enough for them to sneak into the top 25 again? Wofford won a ranked game last week, can they continue?
Lumberjack fans have been saying NAU is for real this year. Winning at EWU will prove they are, and prove EWU belongs squarely on the outside or bottom of the top 25. How far can a red field take them?
Will SFA find 3 fumbles in key situations again? Is McNeese any good or relying on their name?

FWIW, Maine at Delaware game is a playoff game for Maine and PSU, NDSU and YSU are all staring at a 3rd loss. IMO, all these games have playoff implications.siuham wrote:Bolded games actually mean something to the playoffs.89Hen wrote:Richmond at New Hampshire

He didn't have a concussion. He was hit in the groin/abdominal region where he had his sports hernia last year. Official injury report says it's an abdominal contusion. He is definitely not fully healthy, and I don't expect him to be by Saturday. He will probably be feeling better enough to play, how much is yet to be determined. Glad he got to rest all game this last week.CAA Flagship wrote:Is Jones fully healthy or is he still drooling out his ear? Didn't he have a concussion?

Also their rivalrey doesn't matter to me either, so its a none factor in the nomiation.

Do I think they have a chance? Sure. IF they were to beat the Hens, that would mean they took W&M to OT, beat UNH and beat UD in consecutive games. The road would still be steep, but they also still have Towson and URI left to play and they get Villanova and Madison in Orono, where it's always tough to play.siuham wrote:But do people think Maine actually has a chance? I suppose, they'd be 3-2 with a loss to Albany and the Tribe. With a win against Delaware, it'd be a huge upset, and unless they win running away, they'd be at best 20-25.89Hen wrote:Do I think they have a chance? Sure. Preemptive "noshit": They'd be 3-3, but the 3rd loss is to Syracuse.

What more could you ask for?
Wofford at Georgia Southern
The cute, cuddly Ankle-Biters get to travel into the hooligan's den of Paulson to prove their masculinity and superiority ---- the inmates of the Georgia Institute of Correction aim to prove otherwise. With such offensive firepower the teams will probably each score in the low 'teens. The Wiener will be declared 'Best Bone in FCS'.
The Hillbillies and Fightin' Christians will be a blowout -- just can't decide which team. Can't really get excited about Bears V. Chickens (You can't stop the Cluckers; you can only hope to contain them ...). UNI plays football? Who knew?
Now ... The Lumberjerks on the road against the Cowpatties could get interesting. Roll, 'Pokes!

Wofford vs. GSU without a doubt. Battle of the Triple Option. Game is for 2nd in the SoCon and more than likely an at-large bid as well.

Yes, because SIU doesn't still have just as much a chance to finish out the conference season 7-1. They've got WIU at home and only NDSU/MSU on the
First in the conference will have one loss. Zero if UNI/WIU can close out the rest of the season without a loss, and they play each other in Week 12. If NDSU wins this weekend, they'll be back in thought, but they're on the outside looking in until they actually beat someone in conference that isn't ISU Blue.

And that was SIU's only conference loss that year. This conference won't be won with 2 losses, and NDSU already has their quota. Here's hoping SIU doesn't after this weekend.Gil Dobie wrote:Last time SIU came to Fargo what happened? The didn't call themselves ISU Blue that's for sure.siuham wrote:

Edit: Though I must say, this year would be the year for it to happen again. 2005 had a three way tie for first with 2 loss teams. NDSU losing to SIU actually pushed us into the playoffs that year.

Jones, who suffered what team officials now describe as an abdominal contusion in the pelvic region late in the first half of Saturday’s 30-7 Big Sky loss at Montana State, saw an orthopedic physician on Monday and is expected to see only limited action in practice for at least the next couple of days.
“It’s just kind of a pain thing with him right now,” explained EWU’s head athletic trainer, Brian Norton, adding the injury has nothing to do with the hernia surgery Jones underwent during the offseason. “We’re getting the pain out of there and going from there.
