I thought the Grizo question on the Griz option was a joke and didn't know you would use it!

Craig's answer is exactly why I thought it was a joke. We have scheduled an option team like Cal Poly quite often. We have beaten them 13 out of 15 times.

When we played Wofford we held them to less points and less yards than most of their conference foes did that year. If that's the case then we need to know more about how to score points on their defense which as far as I know is not an option defense.

Oh well, ya can't train everybody I guess.

We struggled against Ga. Southern in 1989.

We struggled to stop Delaware in 1993.

when we met Ga. Southern again in 1995 we beat them 45-0.

When we played Ga. Southern again in 2000 in the NC we held them to 27 points.

They averaged 50 points a game against their regular season opponents.

They averaged 39 points a game against their other 3 playoff opponents.



How fucking much should our defense do? That line of struggling is a way too simple answer but people want to go with it then so be it. As I said Haley's answer provides ya with all ya need to know. We schedule that team, and we beat them 13/15. I'll take that. If we're struggling against them then we must be fucking horrible against EWU/MSU and the standard offenses they run as well.

Montana had a nice team in 2000 but the weather in the second half factored into the low point total for GSU, it was really miserable and Revere couldn't hold onto the ball on the outside and it really stymied the offense except for one big play when it counted most. Montana made some nice adjustments at the half, but GSU's option offense has a long and inglorious history of struggling in inclement weather regardless the quality of opponent- and Montana 2000 was a HELLUVA opponent.

This is not menat to imply that Montana had nothing to do with holding the Eagles down in the second half but the GSU folks have seen it before with the weather.

I was at the game and sat in the weather. Worst rain I've ever been in. That being said other than AP's normal big plays GSU's offense was not ruling the roost like they did against other opponents in the first 1/2 when the weather was decent. Losing our QB didn't help us score points either along with the weather.

Would you say that MT struggled against your attack in comparison to most of the other teams you played?

hey I liked my shot at the Ivies......too good for the playoffs because "gulp" their players may miss school! Hell it's the Ivy's those kids already know how to study. Personally I think they believe the FCS playoffs are below them because there is not a lot of national notoriety...but talk about March Madness where the kids really miss a lot of school they are all over that because they can get on TV...

In the first half GSU hit two big plays that set up scores... the long run by Myers on the first series and the TD pass to Johnson on what was undoubtedly a blown coverage.

Montana did a good job against the GSU offense that game given they only had a week to prepare and were coming off an emotional OT win vs App, as well as could be expected especially considering GSU had the greatest back in the histry of the division, except for the three big plays which were the two in the first half and the "Son of the Run," which was the game winner.
