WEEKLY PAYTON/BUCHANAN WATCH- SEPT 26

Post by SmallCollegeFBFan »

As usual I start my weekly look at both national awards after a few weeks of games have been completed. There are no definite additions from the Ivy League or NEC to add on defense quite yet but I will continue to look at both leagues. The Ivy League has played just two games so I expect to have a good name or two by mid October.

What do you guys think? Anyone criticisms of the adjustments made? I didn’t hesitate to take a player off who was struggling but I will also not hesitate to add them back if they pick it up.

I doubt that Tino will be dropped. He played a whopping 1.25 quarters against Division II Central State yesterday. Dayton emptied the bench early in the second quarter and still won 45-13. Steve will not be dropped because Dayton runs a classy program rather than running up stats for a Payton candidate. Tino is the best player in the PFL and he will remain on the list probably till the end of the season.

I doubt we'll see Andrew Selle or Chase Reynolds on the list for much longer. Andrew is hurt (probably out for a while) as is Chase. Too bad, really. :(

He is on my radar. If he keeps it up he might get on the list this year but he would need a couple of monster games to really make him jump off the page.

I updated the list and put him back on and took off Devon Moore. Meant to have Moore taken off and just noticed I didn't so that made a spot for Valentino.

Oh, I wasn't implying just yet but I think he'll be there in a couple years, considering how he's done so far.

Andrew took a shot to the shoulder against Sac and came out of the game in a sling. People thought it was broken, but it appears to be less than that. I'm not exactly sure, but with his bad numbers already, and the possibility of missing 1-3 games, I doubt he'll have an impact.

Reynolds also has a nagging shoulder injury, but keeps playing. Coupled with the fact that our run game has been non-existent, I doubt he'll make much of a Payton case this year.

Hate to see that. Sounds like both will come off the list. I took them both off the list. Hopefully some more folks step up because it seems like a lot of the folks on the preseason list are having a bad year so far.
