Yeah, that must be it. Makes total sense Wedgie so thanks for sorting it all for us. :thumb:

So, the Griz had two close losses on the road to two good FCS teams while breaking in a new coach and a "tweak" on the offensive system, and now the sky is falling? I won't be concerned about them until they lose to Sacramento State at Missoula, if that truly happens. Then I'll try to figure it out.

The way some of you are carrying on, if you were Portland State fans you'd have jumped off the Fremont Bridge long before now. You aren't head and shoulders above everyone else in the conference, but you are still a long, long way from the bottom. You'll be fine.

When Glanville and Davis took over for Walsh at PSU, all of us thought it was a good move and the good fortune that Walsh established would not only continue but flourish. However, a Griz fan pointed out to me that it may take time to "adjust" to a new coaching philosophy. Pflugrad is a helluva better coach than Glanville which makes me believe this is only temporary. The Griz will be fine.

Big fat swing and a miss, JALMOND.

It's not THAT we lost. It's HOW we lost. In fact, they LOOKED lost out there most the time. We can't hold onto the ball, can't stop getting penalties, can't hold onto the ball, can't stop shooting ourselves in the foot, can't run-block, can't hold onto the ball, can't decide on a QB, can't hit wide-open receivers, can't hold onto the ball, can't keep the defense off the field, can't stop giving up defensive TD's, can't hold onto the ball, can't stop looking complacent, etc., etc., etc.

If we'd looked good (or even shown IMPROVEMENT) and still lost, I think there'd be a lot less angst.

Alas, we are now mere mortals, it appears. At least for a while. And for a fanbase that hasn't endured 2 consecutive losses since 1992, we're going to need a moment to let that sink in. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

I think we have lost in the playoffs one year and lost the first game of the season a few times....perhaps you meant in the same season.... I agree with what AZ said though.

I figured as much but you know this crowd and its collective reading comprehension. If you gave them the eye chart and all they had to do was say E half would get it wrong and the other half would say a number.

Sorry, I'm still not buying it. Two close losses on the road to two very good teams. The Griz are returning home where they won their last game 70-2 (??), and playing against a team they have not lost to, playing in one of the best home venues in all of FCS. They lose that one, then we'll talk. Until then, I'm sorry I cannot feel your pain.

This scenario has been played so many times when the Griz are in "transition". It's like a broken record. We count you out early, yet we are then struggling at the end of the year to get an at-large spot while the Griz are comfortably in the playoffs. I've seen it so many times. I've learned from experience.

I'm giving them one more game. All the Griz naysayers would be wise to do the same.

Yes, I have!

But, most of those "position(s)" were the result of a fairly "deep" playoff run!

EWU certainly has the talent to do just that this season, and I sure hope they do! The key, IMO, is acting like you've been there & done that before.

The Griz have done it a lot, and that kinda' winning feeling, NEVER GET'S OLD!

Should it happen this season for the Eagle Nation, you guy's are gonna' love it! ;)

Indeed, but we've got quite a ways to go. Still an ugly game on our half as well, and I'm by no means comfortable with our play. A win in Bozeman would certainly help though.

Except that's not even true, either. The Griz lost 2 straight to close the 2005 season (Bobcats, then Cal Poly in the playoffs). They lost 2 straight to end the 2002 regular season (EWU & MSU). They also dropped consecutive games to EWU & NAU in 1997. I think the Boise & ISU losses in 1994 were back-to-back, too.

The Griz haven't lost 3 straight games in the same season since 1992, though…

I am totally with Jalmond on this one. I think many Griz posters post too soon after a game when emotion is running off the chart. I try not to post for at least one day to give myself time to look at things objectively. I hated the way we lost the last two games but the reality is I believed from the beginning that both those games would be huge and difficult to win. I did think we would win one of them but we didn't. We lost really ugly but were in both of them to the end inspite of some of the ugliest football I have ever seen the Griz play.

That being said, the Griz have a lot of work to do and maybe this week's game will show if they are up to the task or not. Sac State is a good team so it will be a test. If the Griz lose this game then I will agree that the season is indeed a rebuilding year and it is time to sit back and watch it all play out. If they lose ugly then it is time to really re-evaluate the new staff and program.

I look for things to start to come together and improvement to be made. It is not time to jump off the bridge yet Griz fans.

Get over yourself Dilbert, you made the same brash statements last season. But maybe my prior statement in this thread was a bit over stated. Here's a linky to my "called it" moment.

EWU may not pull it out in the end, I predicted they will, but after the Griz last two games ... things don't look to bright for the "Reign of the Griz".
