Saw them for the first time Saturday.
The "L" had nothing to do with how good/bad UNI played. 3 freakish fumbles INSIDE the SFA 10 took 21 pts off the board.
The QB is like a poor mans version of the Michigan QB. Very fast, can throw "good enough" and appears to make good decisions. Tail back also very quick, finds the edge in a hurry. You better not let him get the corner turned on you, or it will be 20 yds before the safety can come in and clean up the mess. TE is a big target with what appear to be soft hands. Ran the seam route ALOT, QB can hit that when its open. Play action on almost every snap. Defense has to stay honest and stay assignment correct or they will burn you. They are a big play waiting to happen. Speed, Speed, and more Speed.
D, looked solid if not overwelming/dominant. Good enough, considering the big play capabilities of the O. Spent alot of time in zone with man press coverage on what they must of perceived to be SFA's biggest threat WR.
Un-biased thoughts on UNI
Re: Un-biased thoughts on UNI
Pretty accurate I'd say.
Our team speed is probably the tops i nthe conference.
From what I hear about Rennie, it was a strained calf that he suffered. Sounds like he should be good to go though....should is a key work though

I do not understand how you could hurt your calf muscle on that tackle. Not saying it did not happen - but I had about 10-15 other injuries running through my head after that deliberate face mask.

I thought it was a head, OSBF thought it was hammy, but I've since heard calf. Maybe Rennie went to plant and his body was pulled forward and his foot stayed planted really stretching the calf out causing a strainTrapped in CA wrote:I do not understand how you could hurt your calf muscle on that tackle. I didn't get to watch this, but instead listened to it on the radio. UNI is a very good football team. I hope Rennie is ok. I know everytime the commentators said he dropped back to pass, or "Rennie around the end" I was scared to death! It seems UNI's team speed is unreal. UNI showed me that they have the ability to be extremely expolosive. They also were very capable of putting drives together. It just so happened that, in this game anyway, those drives ended in a turnover.
From what I have read, and from other posters, it seems UNI is a young team. Turnovers, many times, are the result of inexperience. As the season goes on, experience will follow, and this team will be GOOD!
As far as the Defense goes...you held SFA scoreless in the second half. That is really good. It shows that proper adjustments were made at the half and the defense executed them well.
I wouldn't want to have to play UNI again come playoff time!
Good squad UNI!

Coach Farley said it best when he said something like "We are an explosive team, sadly we explode some times".FWJack wrote:I didn't get to watch this, but instead listened to it on the radio. when you are running, and someone is pulling you down by your facemask/helmet/horsecollar, it's certainly possible for your leg to end up at a funny angle and tweak your calf (or any other leg muscle). He also had a sore neck after the play.Trapped in CA wrote:I do not understand how you could hurt your calf muscle on that tackle. I understand anything can happen - but watching him taken down head first, a calf strain was not anywhere on the list.
