UM vs EWU highlights
Re: UM vs EWU highlights
Pretty sloppy game with the turnovers. Good win EW - that Taiwan Jones has some wheels.

Re: UM vs EWU highlights
Looked like one hell of a game. Judging from the highlight reel, UM had most of the momentum in the 1st half and EWU came out and battled and made some plays to take it down. But I will say that field looks terrible on TV...well at least on that KPAX broadcast. I am sure BSTV is no better.

The on field shots looked OK but the majority of the game shot from the Press box angle was absolutely terrible. They tried to adjust the whole game to make it look decent but they could not do it. On one replay they ran the field looked purple.SDHornet wrote:Looked like one hell of a game. The highlight looks even better than the game did because they toned it down to a more orange look than it was during the game.
I don't mind the red field thing at all but it looked absolutely hideous on TV. It sets any technology back about 40 years as far as appearance.

Re: UM vs EWU highlights
it's the same thing they bitched about here at UM last year so if anything it's what we'd call "even" at this point. I know a guy that used to be a Big Sky ref and if you think they make their calls based on who is playing where then it's pretty misguided. They do fuck up calls at times but it ain't because they are at one place or another...they just miss the call.grizzaholic wrote:You know what I said. After every game they have to go through a review of every call they make and be judged by their peers and quite often by an NFL guy and they sure as hell ain't happy about making a bad call because it goes against their weekly review and they won't be doing many games if it doesn't pass muster.

Re: UM vs EWU highlights
It wasn't bad/no calls by the ref's or the clock that lost the game. It was 6 turn overs, blocked punt and Taiwan Jones. That's it...Nothing else. Those had about 1,000 times more to do with the loss than the refs or the clock. Accept the loss and move on. In fact, get ready for a few more losses if we can't clean up the turnovers and special teams play.

A Griz fan should be the last one to bitch about home-cooking, ESPECIALLY after last year. Bad calls go both ways. I'm sorry you can't accept that your team played horribly.
Yeah...home cookin' on that last drive was in full effect. Have fun.

That right there is exactly my thought on it as well. We got some real trouble in the special teams play right now to go along with the plethora of ways we've found to turn it over.BearIt wrote:It wasn't bad/no calls by the ref's or the clock that lost the game. I wonder if I'm the only Griz fan who is still extremely optimistic at this point
We basically self-destructed and did everything we possibly could to lose 2 games to very good opponents on the road, and still only lost by 2 and 3 with both games coming down to the last play. We're going through growing pains but this team has a ton of talent

Dude, I was all aboard this train this last weekend, but talent can't get you very far when you're playing like sloppy middle schoolers. We almost lost to ISU last season playing the same sloppy style.Silenoz wrote:I wonder if I'm the only Griz fan who is still extremely optimistic at this point

Sac State is pretty good this year. If we don't clean up our play, we're going to lose to them, too. Talent or not.

No, you're not. I got one buddy going off the deep end and me and another friend both feel just fine with it because there isn't a lot of chance that we're gonna keep this up and not get more comfortable with what we're doing. Once we do then it's gonna be scary. It's gotta be quick at this point though.Silenoz wrote:I wonder if I'm the only Griz fan who is still extremely optimistic at this point

Re: UM vs EWU highlights
Welcome to ASU's 2009 season - down 0-2 to start then won every game up to the semi's. You've got a lot of talent for sure and you'll get back in this thing. A lot of ASU fans were writing our team off last season with the close losses to ECU and McNeese. It isn't as if you've lost to crappy teams or anything.AZGrizFan wrote:Honest question: Please tell me why we should be optimistic?Ursus A. Horribilis wrote: No, you're not. Look, I have said for months now that this team was not gonna hit it's stride until game 6 or 7. I am hoping that we do enough not to lose games but I still saw way too much playing it fast & loose on offense. We are overly aggressive on defense and it gets some costly penalties. I think the coaching is fine but there are a couple of times that I scratch my head like the pitch on 2nd & goal from the one at EWU.
My analogy is simple...the Griz are a drag car with a timing issue. Once they get the timing issue settled and this thing is purring then I think there will be some head turning trips down the track.
I realize the margin is razor thin right now and I hope they get it together this week but even if we were to miss the playoffs this year I can see that this is great football to watch soon and in the future.
