Should Mont, Sac n Liberty be ranked?

Post by weberwildcat »

Should Montana, Sac State and Liberty be in the top 25 when the poll comes out tomorrow? Why/Why not?

Montana 0-2
DII or NAIA win
Loss to Cal Poly 35-33
Loss to E. Washington 36-27

UM has no FBS losses which usually are most of the losses of the FCS top 25 in the first couple of weeks. Last year App St was 0-2 and ranked but they had an FBS loss.

Sac State 1-1
Loss to FBS
DII or NAIA Win
Win over #21 Weber State 24-17

Liberty 2-1
Win over St Francis 52-7
Win over FBS Ball St
Loss to Robert Morris 3-23

this has been a bad weekend for a lot of teams. when it comes down to it a lot of teams that weren't in the top 25 last week aren't good enough to be in the top 25 still. i have liberty in my top 20 because they're a top 20 team period. there's other teams that lost this weekend that shouldn't have and i didn't make a HUGE change in there ranking because every team has a down week

Wouldnt be surprised to see Sac get a couple votes, but I don't think they'll be in the top 25. Not yet at least. If Sac beats Montana, then I think you could expect to see Sac get in there.

Liberty and Montana both in my poll. I think I may have Montana too high, but they had two very close loses. Sac. St. didn't make mine because I thought teams like Alabama St. & Central Arkansas deserve to be in there.

To be honest I could care less about the polls. The Hornets need to keep this momentum and continue to play strong. The Hornets need to be focused on finishing in the top of the BSC to obtain a playoff berth.

To add to the poorly performing list.

SIU: 1-2, win over a lower division opponent. One loss to an FCS outside of the Top 25, one loss to an FBS.

To compare to Montana: Montana won against a lower division opponent, but their two losses have come to two FCS teams in the top 25 at the time.

I have one of those two in my top 25 (barely) and one not (barely)

I ranked two of those three teams.

The team I did not rank has a 'Z' in their name.

I'm really confused as to which polls you guys are voting for. Is this something ya guys do personally, or is this for the CS Poll which I thought isn't out yet?

Alabama St? They beat MVSU, UAPB, and PVU (I think their starting QB is still out) IMO I think it's too early to rank them.

I give them credit for beating 3 FCS teams. They may not be good, but it is better than beating DII or having multiple loses. I doubt they will stay ranked past weeks 4 or 5, but I think they deserve the #25 spot.

Doesn't that depend on the DII team? Central Washington now gets a bunch of kids that lost scholarships at at the DI level , they lost by 3 to the Griz in Missoula 2 years ago, and I've talked to several people in our program who said without a doubt, we were more beat up after Central Washington than Nevada, and the Wildcats were just as physical a team.

It's been brought up before but certain DII programs should get every bit as much consideration in polling and counting toward the 7 win threshold as FCS non and partial scholarship conferences.

I can respect that, just threw me for a loop seeing them mentioned. I'm pretty tough on SWAC teams.

Alabama State's opposition is 1-7 combined. They're in mind, but not getting a vote from me just yet. If they take out Alcorn State on the road next week they'll have a good shot to get ranked and stay ranked.

Hmmm...don't have access to the ballot part of the site. I did get the confirmation email that I registered sent to me though. I had this issue last year because of the characters in my name...probably having the same problem this year. I'll send Chris a PM and get workin' on my poll.

If Chris don't pm ya back right away then send your poll to me and I'll email Tman and tell him of your problem and have him slide it in there until the issue is resolved.

I better go check and see if I have the poll thing show up since I haven't checked that yet.

Can I get my poll invalidated and start over? I inadvertently voted PRIOR to the Cal Poly /Texas State game being over (I thought CP had a bye  )....I'd like a do-over please?

You ain't gonna need it after our discussion it appears that I fix your vote with where we both think they should be legitimately anyway so we're all cool. :thumb:

how do you rank which teams are the 25 best teams in the country? It's an annoying question at this point of the season in many ways in both FCS and FBS because you have teams at the top that are hard to separate from each other- App State, Villanova, James Madison, Jacksonville State... any one of those four can be #1.

i think Sacramento State is looking very good right now

Take that for face value
