Hey hey hey....that last thing they need is positive reinforcement right now. Don't start that sh!t until after next Saturday.BlueHen86 wrote:I think it's way too soon for Montana fans to panic. My guess is that Montana ends up no worse than 8-3 and hosts a first round playoff game.

The team that needs positive reinforcement is UNLV. They have a whopping 83 yards in the 4th quarter...that is total for the game. Blown out again...this time by Idaho. Good job BH. I wished him well and he jumped too soon.

I doubt it. If Montana makes the playoffs at 8-3 or better they will get at least a first round playoff game. UM has too good of an attendance history.grizzaholic wrote:BlueHen86 wrote:I think it's way too soon for Montana fans to panic. It's two road losses to two good teams. If that happens, can we field all questions why Montana is getting "special" treatment in a home game to you?BlueHen86 wrote:I doubt it. If Montana makes the playoffs at 8-3 or better they will get at least a first round playoff game. UM has too good of an attendance history.grizzaholic wrote:![]()

Thanks, it feels good. We need as much turmoil to surround UM this next week. We have never won in Missoula, this is possibly the best chance we ever have. Hilliard and the OL was on tonight. He single handedly carried the Hornets when times got tough. Epic.BlueHen86 wrote:Nice win for you guys today. Sure. I already have my answers. Montana has a good history of playoff attendance, no way the commitee would put them on the road in round 1. Look at the 2007 Delaware BlueHens; they finished the regular season at 8-3 but still opened the playoffs at home.grizzaholic wrote:If that happens, can we field all questions why Montana is getting "special" treatment in a home game to you?BlueHen86 wrote:

Re: Griz in Free Fall? What's the Cause?
They lose 1 more game and the best they could finish is 7 Div I wins, which will be playoff bubble. 7-3 vs I-AA + a Div II win is no different than 7-3 vs I-AA + a I-A loss.Skjellyfetti wrote:I wouldn't worry too much.
Y'all lost two very close games on the road to good teams.
Y'all can use the next 4 games to work out your issues before you have to play anybody too tough. If you lose any of your next 4, I'd start worrying.
I'd be very worried if I was a Montana fan right now.

Re: Griz in Free Fall? What's the Cause?
I agree only in the sense that their 8-3 with a Div II and no I-A would be 7-3 vs Div I, which would be playoff bubble. They'd likely get in, but likely wouldn't get a top 12 bye, and would be hosting a 1st round game.BlueHen86 wrote:Sure. I already have my answers. Need to be able to pick more than one option. Coaching change/new system, but the latter is because of the former, so I went with new coach.

Re: Griz in Free Fall? What's the Cause?
If 3 teams finish 7-1 (or 6-2) ...
In the event of a tie at the top of the standings, how does the Big Sky crown a conference champ?
Head-to-head?
Coin flip?
Draw from a hat?
Whatever issues Montana seems to be working under I find it hard to believe in the coming weeks they will turn the ball over 5-6 times a game -- and average 100+ yds in penalties. How they iron out their issues, I don't know.
Cutting back on the TOs will certainly help out their defense --- I don't really see the Griz giving up 30+ points a game the rest of the season (but I guess stranger things have happened ... )

EWU is Wa-Griz Stadium West. UM dominates the EWU market...at least according to them.ASUG8 wrote:You guys played on the road, and you aren't used to that.

Given the issues we're trying to "iron out", is 7-1 even feasible at this point?grizzaholic wrote:BlueHen86 wrote:I think it's way too soon for Montana fans to panic. It's two road losses to two good teams. I wouldn't be at all suprised to see the Griz run the table the rest of the way.

New system. New coach. If y'all grizzlies don't start cannibalizing each other, Montana will be just fine in the long run, although there may not be a championship title or playoff run this year.SeattleGriz wrote:New system.
The Griz used to be a power running team on offense and a bend don't break defensive team. Both very conservative schemes.
This new version seems to be high risk, high reward on both sides of the ball and currently it has been mostly high risk.
How do we play so poorly both games, but yet were still in a position to win both. Not like we have been blown out.
I am starting to wonder if the leap is too big for the players to transition in one off season. I think we have the talent, it is just going to take some time (obviously) for this team to click. Some easy Big Sky games will hopefully be exactly what this team needs to work the kinks out.

7-1 is feasible until someone steps up to beat the Grizz again this year. That's the only possible way to think about it, bra. That's because your reason is dumb as shit. I think no hitting passes because they are wildly overthrown would be tough for any receiver to catch. I also think pissing the ball away with turnovers has something to do with it.dbackjon wrote:I gave you the answer before the season started, and you and Ursus told me I was nuts.

That was my choice as well, Ursus. New system be damned, take away 1/2 those turnovers and we win both those games.Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:That's because your reason is dumb as shit. I'd settle for taking ONE turnover in each of those games at this point and escaping with a close victory or a chance in OT.AZGrizFan wrote:That was my choice as well, Ursus. We love all the Griz fans and peace, peace. But the penchant for scheduling patsies for home openers, or even the second week game when a program of this stature, which is apparently looking beyond the FCS, is simply not productive. Give coach Robin a pass for now, maybe later he will be Batman
