BSC Home Attendance

Post by SDHornet »

In order of most to least:
Drake @ MSU: 13,777 :thumb: Solid draw for a weak opponent.
UM @ EWU: 11,702 :thumb: Probably could have been more if there were more seats. (I assume this was a sell out as it was the BSC game of the week imo.)
WSU @ Sac State: 6,937  WOU had a bigger draw last week. Pathetic showing following a win.
ISU @ UNC: 5,497  :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: WTF. Following a near win and only 5k shows up for a virtual guarantee win game. Awful.
PSU on the road at Oregon.

EDIT: Attendance updated per the BSC box scores. :!:

UMM....ISU played really great in that game. In the 3rd some of the wheels came off. Also a few bad bounces of the ball in the first half prevented ISU putting up 21 or 24 points on the board before halftime and lots of momentum.

Interesting. I saw the score and just assumed it wasn't close.

Montana had a few extras so I thought I would toss one your way. I sure as shit hope the bus ride home tonight is long and slow.

What game were you watching? The Idaho State Fantasyland Bowl? If it wasn't for two great returns by Tavoy Moore, UNC would've won by 25-30 points. The Bears for the most part dominated that game, especially on defense where they held ISU to 38 yards of offense in the second half. If that's "really great" by ISU's standards, I'd hate to see what "bad" is.

the sac state number is particularly disappointing given the win and the season that's expected- that is, the one that seems to be taking place thus far

I don't claim to be an expert, I just want to know what you saw in that game that led you to believe that ISU played well. They got doubled in total yardage, gave up 4 long TD drives, and gained a total of 98 yards on their final 9 possessions. Outside of the kickoff and punt return TDs, UNC dominated the game. At least, that was my view from Nottingham Field.

One, I think they underreported the attendance at the game tonight. I thought it was closer to 9K. Second, the Holy Bowl here in town was tonight (Jesuit HS vs Christian Brothers HS) and they had 15K. If the media would actually cover this team more good, bad or indifferent, it would make a difference. As well as more wins. The student turnout was good tonight, about 3,500.

I thought that number was low as well, but there weren't many people on the visitors side.

Great game! I thought that attendance looked higher tonight than it was against Western Oregon. I sit in section 215 at about the 40 yard line and it looked pretty full on the home side from there. Weber brought a pretty good sized group of fans on the visitors side maybe several hundred. There was a lot of students and they were pumped which is good to see. The rest of the games are day games so we will see if that helps. The whole ticket system is pretty mickey mouse, and they do next to nothing to promote the games. It seems that their idea of promoting a game is to open the ticket booth on game day, close at halftime and go home. They need to have promotional nights, find businesses to sponsor games and work on season ticket sales. They should think about turning ticket sales and promotions over to an outside sales group, there is a lot of potential out there if they can get a aggressive marketing program started.

Marketing? Meh, Sac State is a government agency, why apply private business rules to it?

Attendance was pathetic.

Doesnt matter, ISU lost just like everyone knew they would, doesnt matter how close it was.

Or, Sac State could start playing teams that people have heard of. I had people at the game, 3 in fact, that asked me if I knew who WSU was and where they were from, they honestly had no idea who WSU or where they were from. When I told them, they werent very impressed.

The ONLY way to get better attendance is to start playing teams that are of interest to people in the area, it's the only way. Sac State could go to the playoffs and the attendance still wouldnt go over 10k. There's a reason over 15k show up for UCD and Poly.

There were still waaay to many Griz fans at Roos yesterday - despite their whining about ticket availability. But it is so much more fun when the stadium is full.

That being said, John Blanchette reported in this morning's Spokesman Review article that Eastern has sold 6400 season tickets this year. That's more than our average attendance. :thumb:

Things are looking up.

Yes. I guess you're right, it's probably the same for most of, if not, all the Big Sky schools. It's just very frustrating but it's even more frustrating when a #21 ranked team comes to your stadium and fewer than 7,000 show up.

The added home game against CP (I’m assuming CP and “the farm extension” will be alternating home games every year) will only add 1 game where people are familiar with the opponent. I agree with Green Laser. If they want better turnout, they will market the hell out of the local neighborhoods and businesses. You have to spend money to make money.

I also thought that was hilarious. That is like saying if we take away that Grand Slam in the 1st inning we win by 3. Typical from a UNC fan. I have yet to find one that is logical.

I don't know where you got the info that unc only had 3,000 at the game but our official notes say we had over 5,000. I was at the game and we had way over 3,000. Check the unc websit, it will show the correct number.

Do they account for the student section when they put out the attendance figures or just go by ticket sales? I agree, it was closer to 9,000 people at that game.

About 9,000 would be my guess home side looked at very least 85% full, visitors side about maybe 500 Weber people in a purple block behind their bench and at least that many other scattered around.

Yet you're commenting on a game you probably didn't even watch. Yet you've spouted off numerous excuses to why Montana lost. I have yet to find a Montana fan that wasn't a dumbass.

By the way the home attendance was 5497, nothing great.
