24-17 Final. WSU stuffed on a 4th and 12 for a turnover on downs. 3rd and 8 Hornets throw the ball and get it to the WSU goal line. Sac milks the clock and takes it down. HUGE WIN!!! Bring on the Griz!!!!

I love how the WSU board was saying how easy of a game this would be. Nothing like a stiff plate of crow for some of those guys on that board.

Sac won the time of possession 35 minutes to 25.
Held WSU to 95 yards on 25 carries.
Held WSU to only (yes only given what Higgins racked up the past two weeks) 253 pass yards and 2 TD. Higgins was picked once. Fumbled once as well but didn't lose it.

Both teams were horrific on 3rd down. The difference had to be Sac converting 3rd downs when it mattered most.
0 sack on Higgins, Hornets only allowed 1.
Penalties and yards were about even, but WSU had many costly turnovers that kept a Hornet drive alive that started on our own 1 yard line. I don't remember if we scored on it but it definitely turned the field position battle at least.

Hats off the Hornet D. We needed them to step up big and they did.

Only 6,937 showed up. That is pathetic.

i see weber only had 1 turnover. what exactly happened? the only thing that stands out to me in the box score is sac having a high amount of rushing yards.

where were we when we faked a FG? there is no play by play on espn. unfortunately i was at usu watching them get smoked by fresno so i missed the game.

Inside the Hornet 30. WSU had a solid drive and ran some BS "let's fake like our FG unit isn't ready and run a wing blocker late onto the field. This will confuse the defense and we will get a TD." I saw the Hornet D do a hand motion signaling it was a fake even before it was snapped. They were ready for whatever play that was. The Hornets sacked the holder/QB on the play for a loss and forced a turnover on downs. A real FG would have put WSU on the board and got some confidence for the offense. I think it was 14-0 when that play was called. I couldn't believe it.

Statement game by Sac State. Fleming showed that he is a much better runner than Bethel Thompson or at least quicker. Solid game game Sac. I think for teams like UNC and Sac State it will be a question of how consistent can they bring that effort each and every week and establish a winning record.

My guess is that this year each conference win should be treated like gold, because there are going to be some great battles to get enough wins towards a conference battle.

Problem is that next week they will be playing an angry Grizzly team. That has lost two games in the final 4 minutes. Be an interesting matchup, but my early guess is that the Griz should win, because, simply..Sac State does not have Taiwan Jones on their team to take a 5 yard loss and turn it into a 20 yard gain to the outside. Hilliard isn't that type of runner.

Exactly. The Griz have forgot what holding onto the ball..or getting away from it..mean. They also must be short on clothes because they have been collecting an awful lot of laundry lately.

Thanks! It was great atmosphere in the 4th quarter last night in the stadium. I think they underreported the attendance. There was IMO closer to 9K. Anyway, defense played really well to slow up Higgins. He look confused with the schemes with threw at them and the timing of his passes were just awful. I think most Weber fans would agree with that.

What can I say about Bryan Hilliard! He is a beast of running back that will just punish you game after game. He completely wears down the DL, getting 4, 5, 6 yards a carry. Fleming is one heck of a runner too. His passes are getting better. Can't believe he has only been with the team for 3 weeks!

Can't wait for next week's game at Montana!

Any thanks everyone for the congrats. It's nice to finally see this team play a well rounded game. It took one hell of an effort and the team and coaches really stood up to the task. We now face a back stretch of back @ UM then home vs MSU. Still a lot of work to do.
