...the normal disclaimers about how stupid it is to make predictions this early, that I am a Weber and Big Sky homer, etc, etc, but if I roll an eleven I will look like the true football genius that I am, so... YO! YO! YO!
1. Weber State beats EWU and UM at home, loses to MSU on the road, and whips NAU in Flagstaff during the normal 'jacks late season meltdown to win the undisputed BSC crown and finish 8-3 overall, 7-2 Big Sky, and 8-3 in Division I (no NAIA/DII on the schedule, road losses to MSU, BC and TT). Weber gets a seed and the Big Sky auto-bid.
2. (Tie) Eastern Washington beats UM at home but loses to MSU and WSU on the road to finish 8-3 overall, 6-2 BSC, and only 7-3 DI due to scheduling a lower division opponent.
2. (Tie) MSU whips both EWU and WSU at home but loses to NAU in Flagstaff before the traditional late season 'jack meltdown, and lose (another) heartbreaker to UM on the road to finish 8-3 overall, 6-3 BSC, and only 7-3 DI due to scheduling a lower division opponent.
2. (Tie) The mighty Montana Grizzlies lose on the road at EWU and WSU but sweep the rest of the board to finish 8-3 overall, 6-2 BSC and only 7-3 DI due to scheduling a lower division opponent and booking the ONLY 2010 Big Sky out-of-conference loss to an FCS opponent.
For the first time in history and in the first year of expanded FCS playoffs, the Big Sky Conference sends FOUR teams to the playoffs. *
5. Northern Arizona loses to EWU on the road but recovers the following week at home against MSU, only to lose to Montana in Missoula the week after. By the time Weber shows up in Flagstaff at the end of the season, the Lumberjacks are well into their traditional late season meltdown and put up only enough fight to make Weber look good in victory. NAU will be fortunate to finish 7-4 overall, 5-3 BSC and 6-4 DI, missing out on the playoffs yet again.
* Regardless of who wins the conference championship, a more likely scenario is that one or two teams finish second and the Big Sky sends three teams, at most, to the playoffs. Even with the new, expanded playoffs, sending more than three BSC teams to the post season will require other teams to implode, as UNI imploded last year.

I highly doubt the Kitties make it in while NAU doesn't. In addition, I'm looking at the Hornets winning it all.
Your four Sky teams are Sac, Griz, EWU, and Weber.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

In three career starts against Sacramento State, Higgins is averaging 305 passing yards per game and 4.3 touchdown passes per game.

NAU? The Lumberjacks folded at the end of the season for the past two years, finishing both 2008 and 2009 with four straight losses. They did beat Weber in Ogden in 2007 before losing 2 of the remaining 3 games on the schedule.SuperHornet wrote:I highly doubt the Kitties make it in while NAU doesn't. Re: Out on a Limb with Big Sky Title Predictions
You know what the best thing is about the Jacks late season slides the past few years (’08, ’09), this is 2010 and a new season. I can understand the logic of picking on the horrible late season troubles the Jacks have had, but I believe the major problem for that is fixed…..we finally have depth on the defensive side of the ball.
We rotated in I think 12 different players into the D front 7 and held ASU to 56 total rushing yrds and an int. The secondary gave up a lot but that’s expected with the speed of a PAC 10 receiving corps. The secondary added its own INT to total 2 for the D. The game was still in reach at the beginning of the 4th quarter (27-20 through 3 qrts of play). That fourth quarter proved to be the difference in the game, much like the Washington St./MSU game. Our guys just run out of gas with that disadvantage in scholarships.
Trends have to end sometime and this year is as good a time as any.
