Big Sky Sagarin Power Ratings after Week Two

Post by native »

84 Cal Poly-SLO (BSC in 2012) AA = 66.70 2 0 57.16( 143) 0 0 | 0 0 | 70.75 64 | 62.40 101
117 Montana AA = 60.18 1 1 69.71( 57) 0 0 | 0 0 | 56.11 139 | 63.66 98
124 Weber State AA = 58.15 1 1 61.64( 118) 0 0 | 0 0 | 59.86 118 | 55.76 139
126 Northern Arizona AA = 58.03 1 1 76.73( 23) 0 0 | 0 0 | 57.31 133 | 58.07 125
129 Eastern Washington AA = 57.83 1 1 78.93( 18) 0 0 | 0 0 | 57.49 132 | 57.50 127
140 Montana State AA = 55.42 1 1 63.50( 102) 0 0 | 0 0 | 51.28 161 | 58.71 119
143 Southern Utah (BSC candidate) AA = 55.11 1 1 51.13( 184) 0 0 | 0 0 | 51.17 162 | 58.20 123
145 Sacramento State AA = 54.51 1 1 86.61( 5) 0 0 | 0 1 | 56.28 135 | 52.01 153
150 Portland State AA = 54.01 1 1 62.45( 110) 0 0 | 0 0 | 57.83 129 | 49.26 163
173 Northern Colorado AA = 48.19 1 1 61.16( 119) 0 0 | 0 0 | 43.42 197 | 51.61 154
188 UC Davis (BSC in 2012) AA = 45.15 0 2 69.02( 61) 0 0 | 0 1 | 42.60 200 | 46.78 170
193 Idaho State AA = 44.53 1 1 68.47( 64) 0 0 | 0 0 | 43.94 193 | 44.44 184

So, basically, Sagarin still rates Montana ahead of everyone else, with Weber State, Northern Arizona, Eastern Washington, and Montana State clustered in second place, well ahead of the rest of the pack.

Sounds both fair and accurate to me. 8-)

With all I've seen so far I had to say right now MSU has the next best chance.

Montana State has been impressive and seems to be the most advanced so far this season, but lacks the skill players of Weber. After WSU, I agree that MSU has the next best shot.

But it's close. I think the title could be a dogfight among the top 4-5 teams, with the possibility of another co-championship this year.

True dat', native!

And, as long as the Griz are one of those co-champions, it's all good with me! :thumb: ;)

5 of the last 8 big sky titles have been shared.

of the 39 titles prior to that only 3 were shared.

there is also the chance these stats are not accurate as for a time period, dont know how long, the big sky didnt recognize co-champs. in 1987 weber tied idaho but idaho beat weber that yr so the vandals were out right champs because the sky didn't recognize cochamps.

I honestly think the window is open for the season but it is closing slightly each week going forward as far as the coaching thing goes. The question is...can the opposing teams take advantage of it like CP did...just barely. By the 8th game I expect that window to have a razor thin opening as far as the system changes goes anyway. We are gonna be what we are at that point.

The good thing for Montana is that the Griz start with a much higher baseline of talent and experience than the typical rebuilding/transitioning team.

The window will be small indeed for the 8th game in Ogden. The Wildcats will have to step up to have a chance. Cam looks to be on track and making excellent decisions so far, with only one INT and one FUM in two games. He is surrounded by plenty of skilled talent, and appears to have better protection this year compared to last year. On defense we lack big play linemen and lost a lot of secondary talent, but the linebackers are more experienced this year.

Despite the abundant talent and significant experience at key positions, the young Weber team lacks discilpine and makes way too many mistakes. Mistakes MUST be reduced to a minimum for Weber to have a chance at stronger foes.
