Appalachian State's Brian Quick was named Offensive Player of the Week while Chattanooga's Ryan Consiglio earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. Samford's Quin Roberson was selected as the Freshman of the Week, and Chattanooga's Mike Hammons was tabbed as the Special Teams Player of the Week. The players of the week are selected by the league office.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brian Quick, Appalachian State, Jr., WR
Quick tied a career high with three touchdown receptions in Appalachian State's 45-14 win over Jacksonville Saturday afternoon. The junior wideout finished with six receptions for 132 yards, including two scores from 41-yards out. It was the fifth time Quick reached the 100-yard receiving plateau in his career. He became the first Mountaineer to record three touchdown receptions since he did it in 2008 against Wofford.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ryan Consiglio, Chattanooga, Jr., LB
Consiglio established a new career high with a game-high 14 tackles against fifth-ranked Jacksonville State. A junior linebacker, Consiglio added an interception and record 1.5 tackles for loss as Chattanooga fell, 21-17. He is tied for second in the Southern Conference with 10.5 tackles per game and ranks eighth in the conference with 1.25 tackles for loss per game.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Quin Roberson, Samford, Fr., WR
Samford's Quin Roberson hauled in six receptions for 124 yards in the Bulldogs' 19-7 win on the road at Northwestern State. Four of his six catches were for over 20 yards, including a long of 35. Roberson is seventh in the nation in receiving yards per game (111.0 ypg). He added one rush for 28 yards on Saturday evening.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mike Hammons, Chattanooga, Jr., P
Junior Mike Hammons averaged 47.0 yards per punt for the Mocs. Hammons totaled 141 yards on three kicks and placed two inside the 10-yard line to pin Jacksonville State deep in its own end. He also booted a 50-yard punt, the ninth of his career.
