Who impressed you most and least in week 2?

Post by clenz »

What teams impressed you the most this week? Which team exceeded your expectations so much that you had no choice but to go "Holy crap, I did not see that coming."

What teams made you go "Holy crap, that is embarrassing for them"?

Cal Poly impressed me most (I thought there was an outside chance of JMU winning, I thought there was no chance of Poly winning)

Least by default would be Montana, but other than that, probably VMI. A bit of a Big South biased pick, but man did they lay an egg.

I have to say JMU too, but Cal Poly isnt that far behind.

Worst was probably NDSU. They took a step backward. There were other bad ones to be sure. They can do their own bragging.

Most: OBVIOUSLY if you don't pick JMU you're a tard. Liberty was pretty impressive also

Least: VMI (I didn't expect anything else from them though)

Beyond JMU, I will say Missouri State impressed me the most. Homer pick, I know. But something tells me by the way Terry Allen was fired up after the K-State game that we have something special on our hands. In terms of the K-State game, we were 2 plays, had they gone our way, to putting a good scare into the Wildcats and it should have been 14-13 at half MSU if the ref had had any balls to make correct calls. But regardless, we put up a hell of a fight and I walked away impressed and excited for the game in Normal, IL in 2 weeks.

Most: JMU, of course.

Least: SDSU

I'd like to put Montana as least, but I thought we'd have struggles against Cal Poly, and we almost came back to win with a ton of stupid mistakes to boot.

SDSU was supposed to be really good, went on the road and laid a huge egg. I'm tempted to put SIU up there as well. Watching that game was embarrassing. :ohno:

How does the defending OVC champ lose to Carkansas at home by 30?

Hands down Most goes to JMU. Great win for both JMU and the FCS.

Talking strictly FCS, I gotta say I was most impressed with JMU. I didn't think they had a chance in heck. South Dakota comes in a close second for the way they dominated Minnesota. I'd love to put Liberty in that conversation, but given that I had a Flame win pegged from the get-go, I can't honestly do that.

Most disappointing would have to be the Griz, I guess.

But if one expands out of FCS, the Griz loss gets blown away by that bogus sleeper hold tonight in D.C. I'm REALLY p!$$ed about that.

Most: JMU, Chatty, Cal Poly
Least: Georgia State, NDSU, SDSU, Illinois State, SIU

All the MVC schools I listed looked pretty bad. I honestly think NDSU might lose to Indiana State this year. I figured SDSU would lose, but not like that. Illinois State has not looked good against D2 or FBS, I'm hesitant to think they'll do too well, but can still get things turned around. I picked SIU to win, and they got destroyed.

JMU is the obvious choice. No one here can honestly say they saw that coming.

Liberty was a close #2 for me. Or maybe "impressed" isn't the right word...maybe "frightened" is better.

Most: JMU. Tied for second Cal Poly (I watched the second half of that game online) and South Dakota.

Most embarrassing: McNeese St, who got totally dominated by Missouri. I don't think we got dominated this bad since we played Miami in 2000, who had Santanna Moss and a million other pro draft choices on that team.

At least, we have two weeks to lick our wounds before we host Cal Poly. I'll be watching the Tex. St.-Cal Poly game with increased interest this week.

Anyone who doesn't say JMU is a homer or in dire need of attention. Trust me.

Disappointing? What about Western Carolina? Didn't they lose to Speculum or something like that? Who the fuck are they?

Most: JMU. Good Job. It's too bad App State beat you to it because they will always get the glory of being first.

Least: Georgia State. Welcome to reality. It is only going to get worse from here. They should consider themselves successfull if they can maintain +10,000 attendence. That is going to be difficult after a couple of blow out losses.

Well when you self destruct and start giving up 80+ yard TDs, pick sixes, overthrown balls on uncovered guys in the endzone, repeatedly rough the passer when they fail to convert 3rd and long, terrible refs, etc., it's says something that we lost by 2.

Time will tell how good Cal Poly and Montana are, but an unranked team defeating a #1 ranked team is big news IMO.
