The Sky is SCREWED....
...at least for this week.
The Kitties lost to a team that was 0-12 last year. (Not that that wasn't expected.)
Idaho State lost to Utah State. (Ditto.)
EWU squeaks out a win over a D-II school.
The Griz lost one to Cow Poly. (VERY unexpected, at least for me.)
Sac beat a D-II school, but apparently incurred big injuries and had some major blown coverages. (SD/GCM, please correct me if that's wrong. I'm just going off the SacBuzz thread because I didn't get to see it.)
UNC is beating Weber in the 3rd overtime. (REALLY unexpected unless one is a UNC fan. That also may not be accurate because I'm going off of Yahoo!, which has been running slow today.)
The only bright spots are NAU, which is losing to Arizona State (last I saw) by only a TD in the 3rd, and Portland State (which most expected to have a horrible year) taking down the Farm Extension in what would have to be considered the Sky Game of the Week (unless NAU gets it done).
We're going to take it in the shorts in the polls....

Re: The Sky is SCREWED....
Correction:
Yahoo! is now showing Weber-UNC as a final with Weber winning 50-47.
The Sun Devils are pulling away from NAU late in the third, but it's still not too late for the 'Jacks to pull it off. As much as I love ASU grad Danny White as a football player, I'd love to see NAU take this game.

Re: The Sky is SCREWED....
EWU seems to have incurred some injuries as well in their Division II game, most noticeably Taiwan Jones. Everyone is going to be wondering if he plays next week.

Thanks. From all accounts, likely a slight concussion. If he doesn't play next week (per NCAA strict policy), we lose. He was walking on the sidelines and wanting back in the game tonight, but of course the coaches didn't let him.G&B wrote:No way are you for real? That guy is a stud. Thanks as well. At least he had 3 TDs tonight to help his push for a Payton. 235 All-purpose yards to add to his 322 last week.native wrote:Bad news. Taiwan Jones is superb! Best wishes for a full and rapid recovery!Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:

Although the score looked somewhat close, the game was never close, Sac was never in any danger of losing.
Sperbeck play a lot of second and third stringers.
Shaw left the field on a stretcher.
MBT might be having ankle surgery and is possibly done for the season (rumor for now). For now, Fleming is the starter and Herky Hornet is the backup QB.

Good news for Weber. In two games, Cameron Higgins is 57 of 93 for 574 yards with 5 TDs and 1 INT.Herky wrote:...Sac's defensive backs need to get their act together. They did not play well. ...
...now if the Wildcats can hold onto the ball (6 fumbles vs UNC) they might have a chance in Sacramento.

From the sounds of it, he'll play next weekend, which is great news for EWU. As for the illness, hopefully it's just dehydration, and not something more serious.Junior running back Taiwan Jones had another big game, rolling up 235 all-purpose yards and scoring three of Eastern’s five touchdowns. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound speedster, who was vomiting before the game, rushed for 89 yards on 14 carries, scoring on a pair of short runs, and caught four passes for 63 yards and another touchdown.
But there were some anxious moments when Jones was helped off the field with 111/2 minutes left in the game and did not return.
According to Eastern coach Beau Baldwin, Jones suffered a minor concussion but should be ready for Montana. Brian Norton, the Eagles’ head athletic trainer, said he thought dehydration was involved, because of Jones’ undiagnosed illness.

Yep, pretty hard to determine anything at this point.
If we don't develop a deep passing game, Taiwan will be shut down and/or not finish the season due to injuries. Same can be said for our defense which should be improved but has shown nothing. Are Nevada and CWU really good, or are we a 6-5 team?
Is Poly really good, did the Griz play bad, or are the Griz a bit overated with a new coaching staff.
Sac, UNC, and ISU are all showing signs of life.
WSU joins EWU in needing a defense.
NAU still a bit of a mystery but played ASU tough for quite awhile.
I watched a bunch of the MSU-WAZZU game and the cats look again to be very big and physical with an athletic quarterback and a solid defense.
They defintely had the best week.

I don't know about that. Big Sky TV was down, shocker I know, so I can't say how they looked wrt defensive schemes and what not. It sure as hell didn't sound impressive from the audio feed.SuperHornet wrote:This is good to hear. It was an 11 point lead for much of the night. It's not as comfortable as I would have liked but Herky is right, we were never in any real danger of losing. My concern is the health of the players. We are suffering way too many injuries t his early in the season.

Re: The Sky is SCREWED....
Montana State could be the team to beat this year in the BSC, IMO. They've looked pretty darn tough and definitely should have won that game last night if their defense hadn't given up 16 points in the 4th. Looks like Pac-10 level depth got the best of them.......but they are going to be darn tough in the BSC.

Stupid deflected interceptions cost us the game. Our D did a goal line stand to force a FG, and gave the offense a chance to drive and kick the FG. Don't know why we weren't running it in their territory so late...EWURanger wrote:Montana State could be the team to beat this year in the BSC, IMO.
