interesting and worthwhile point, and i freely admit to not having done the math. I'm willing to engage in the debate that SJSU could be the first school that would drop down and could benefit from doing so. My concern is that the overwhelming history of college football shifts like this in the past have resulted in teams and conferences disappearing. but i admit it is possible. i'd like to see some numbers, what kinds of numbers SJSU would spend/generate as a member of a 6-state, 6-team WAC versus a 8-state, 12-team Sun Belt with 3 other teams in California... i'm not sure. I need to think about this some more lol

I like to see football thrive, too, SFGate, but with regard to the Big Sky I don't care about the SJSU debate. I only care about what's best for the BSC.

Dont worry S F Gaters i can take crap with the best of them . I will say though that i am a little nervous as to what the developements will be. If we get stuck as an Independent that is going to suck so im hoping that the Big Sky will wake up and add us or hope for a summit league formation

I don't think the BSC needs to wake up, they are completely in the drivers seat and last time I checked the BSC is not in the business of welfare. Don't take this wrong, as I think SUU is ok, but don't think the BSC owes you anything. They could probably care less if SUU drops off into the Grand Canyon and disappeared.

Not at all looking for welfare i just believe that we belong in the Big Sky, still think we should have been picked well before Northern Colorado (no offense bear fans). Geographically we make the most sense and in terms of competitiveness we would do very well in both basketball and now in football.

The geography argument is the only real asset that SUU brings to the conference. A good friend was working down there a couple of years ago and he called me on game day and said it was just sickening to see the complete apathy toward a September gameday in that town. He said the stadium was Ok by high school standards but the field was pure shit. There was ZERO for tailgating, or any fun to be had at the stadium and he left when the Griz game was starting to go to a bar and watch it.

Not exactly the culture I would imaging the BSC is looking for if they want to upgrade the conference. Now I do think there is a still a good chance they get in but acting like SUU is offering anything other than being located in the footprint is silly. Acting like being in the footprint is all it takes is even sillier.

We can all see how SUU benefits by getting an invite but does SUU benefit the BSC? I don't see a big benefit UNLESS they have a solid plan in place to make things better there and in turn better as a conference. Where SUU is at now is below the median of the BSC as a whole and therefore makes the BSC less, not more.

Just because you reall want or need something doesn't mean the party you want or need it from is gonna just give it to you if you have little value to add. Stop with all the "the BSC needs to wake up" shit cuz it's just dumb ass talk.

I hope things are in the works and SUU can get in and make headway to bringing value as a BSC member.

When did your friend visit Cedar City? If it was 4 years ago then i would agree with the above statement 110%. However steps are being made in the right direction to improve our facilities. As i mentioned in another thread i believe we are unveiling our brand new video scoreboard this Saturday vs San Diego. Also rumors are that in the future (next season) that we will be adding a turf field and possible upgrades to our stadium. I believe that we would be a great member in the BSC and if we were given the nod it would make us want to upgrade our facilities that much faster.

I'm not sure if USD and UND will be allowed in the MVFC. I think a lot of members will fight it. Ind St. appears to be holding onto it's football program. YSU maybe could go somewhere else to make their travel cheaper. Villanova going to the Big East might open a spot up for YSU, but I sincerely doubt it. The MVFC has stated it is pretty happy with the 9 University conf..
A Summit League Football conference is a ridiculous statement. I highly doubt that will happen. I just don't see where they would get enough members. Neither XDSU will drop to a conference without an autobid.
