Delaware Stadium Parking for South Dakota St Game may be a challenge due to road construction. You will not be able to make a left into the stadium parking lots coming from main campus. Its best to arrive from South College Ave from I-95, Rt. 4 and Rt. 72. http://www.bluehens.com/sportsinfo/faci ... rking.html
One question I have is if we can still use the farm entrance form Rt. 72 to enter into the tailgating parking lots behind the east stands and near the swimming pool?
On December 12, 1775 the Continental Congress created a Battalion of minuteman from the three counties in Delaware. Kent county militia were fans and owners of Game Cocks; Fight'n Blue Hens as they were called. The Fight'n Blue Hens became known far and wide as the very best Fighting Game Cocks around. Thus, the Blue Hen was established.
The lots open 4 (FOUR) hours before the game (specifically 9AM for the SDSU game), so there should be plenty of time to avoid a traffic jam. I can't confirm farm road details, but I will say that NOBODY (on GoHens, anyone I spoke with, or in ear shot of me) complained about traffic before the Thursday night game against West Chester. Traffic management was good, and I'd surmise that disallowing the turning from 896 south created a simpler traffic pattern because there was less stopping and starting on the Northbound side. Take 72 of Elkton Road to 4 and come in that way.
Sorry, can't help you. I'm in the gold lot, coming from the south, and I got there when the lot opened last week so no issues. I could see 896 from my tailgate and it didn't really look that bad. Of course, those who wait until the last hour before game time to arrive can't really expect smooth sailing.

Expect full lots so get there early and avoid the rush. Same as 93henfan; I come from the south and enter the gold lot. But this year (At least the WCU game) they are also directing gold lot patron in on the south side service road that runs on the south side of the gold lots. If it's backed up coming from the north do a U turn at Rt 4.

There was a lot of angst on gohens before the WCU game about this, it'll be the parking situation all year.
There were no problems I saw or heard about at the 1st game. UD fans are generally an early arriving crew so its a minor inconvenience for those few that made lefts into the Blue or Gold lots. We'll be in the Gold lot shortly after 10 on Saturday.
I emailed the UD Athletic Department, but they have yet to reply.
I'll just come in from rt. 4 and be done with it, as it does not sound like the traffic hype is all that.
Thanks

Tell me when the complaining didn't start??? In true GoHens fashion, everyone got their panties wadded up and threw Harker and Muir under the bus...the situation wasn't bad and, from what I hear, was very well handled and far from the predicted clusterfcuk.

I think he meant to say no one complained about the pre-game traffic after the game. We all know they complained about it beforehand. That is indisputable.

This.
Kotex warnings were tossed about liberally on GoHens prior, but the post game panty check came out spotless.

It was fun reviewing that thread. 93 got threatened AND called a DBAG all in one post!
Holy hell, I went back and read it and noticed I gave bad directions! If you take Cleveland or Delaware west from 896, the first 72 you'll run into is probably in Maryland or West Virginia. OOPS!
I don't feel so bad being told off by a real chicken with a cartoon beak when I make a dumb mistake.
Just in case any were still interested: We had three of tailgate loaded vehicles successfully make our way down that back farm dusty road off the Rt. 72 entrance, and not only is there still access to the lots behind the East stands, but also that back road will still lead you all the way into the lots in and around the front and side of the ice rinks.
