JMU Backup QB Thorpe Out At Least 6 Weeks

I didn't see this posted. The news hit yesterday.

They were using him at WR and as the "Wildcat" back (although, I think if your backup QB is in, it's really just a spread formation with a run-first QB...I dunno). MM is pulling the redshirt off of true freshman Jace Edwards and he will apparently see playing time at Tech.

Zero. Although I thought he ran less Saturday than in the past. But, that may have had more to do with the opponent than any real change in strategy.

I'm real worried about the game at Tech. IF he makes it through that, I'll be happy. If not, it might be another looooong year.

EDIT: I should probably say "little to none." I think they're starting to realize he's much less Rodney Landers and more Justin Rascati. If the coaches can stick to that, we should be okay.

That would be true freshman Jace Edwards. MM apparently really likes this kid. While I don't think they'd lift his redshirt if he wasn't the true backup, it's also possible that Seaton or Scott -- now WRs -- could be moved back to the QB position. Mickey's said that the other true freshman (Hunter) will not play.

Last year, Liberty was handling the JMU offense with no problem... until Dudzik came in.

I don't know that anybody that watched the two side by side last year would argue that Dudzik wasn't the best option at QB, the question is his durability. Having said that, there was an article that mentioned that Dudzik has bulked up quite a bit since last year, so maybe that'll help. Maybe.
