Confirmed: Poly and Davis join BSC for football

Given THESE TWO to go to eleven, I'm happy staying at eleven. There's nobody else worth going after, even if one factors in D-II call-ups. EWU's objections to WWU have weight, and the same would probably apply to SOU and Humboldt State. SUU may as well be D-II. Not that it's been mentioned, dropping extant BSC schools wouldn't be something I'd recommend. The only possible school to drop, IMO, has done well in nonfootball sports recently, so dumping them would be a HORRIBLE idea (even given my recent smack on their football team). Eleven is a good place to be.

The problem with 11teams is that it pretty much ensures that Montana will go to the WAC. It will mean fewer home games which would start making the WAC a more financially attractive option. Big Sky has to go to 12 or they will lose Montana.

Why would this change the number of home games? Regardless of 11 or 12 members, there will still be 8 conference games.

If we get to twelve there is not going to be a title game. It will be figured out through some other method.

I posted last night on AGS when someone said you can't play a conference opponent as an OOC foe that you indeed COULD if you wanted to and that it has been done in the BSC before. We played ISU twice in 1986. The first was an OOC game and the second was a conference game. It isn't the way any teams are gonna want to go but if two teams are in a pinch then it can be done unless there has been a rule put in place that I ain't aware of.

Poly/Sac/Davis/PSU/EWU/SUU

You can play the OTHER teams not on the schedule...same as we do now.

I'm pretty sure you can't play conference mates for non conference games.

Yes we have. No rule against it...the games just don't count as a conference game.

Yes, but what is that gonna matter...we been conference champs for a long time it was dismissed then so we ain't gonna mind if it happens in the future.

Congrats to Davis and Poly...however the fact that we once again got overlooked is total and complete B**#$%@T I really do not understand why the Big Sky does not want us in the conferemce:

-We are an up and coming team in Football
-We have a pretty dang good basketball team
-Our other sports are pretty competitive
-Have great academic reputation
-Geographically are a perfect fit

Honestly if the Big Sky doesn't take us our only hope is that the Summit league will actually form a football conference. However a few trips to Dakota each year wouldnt be to fun . Other then that then we are going to be screwed over and stuck as an Independent once again. I hope its just the delay that SUU wants to be an all sports member in the Big Sky, but if not this is going to F*&%^$@G suck.

I believe its only a matter of time SUUTbird, Fullerton said he wanted 12 and SUU is the best fit geographically.

TBird, you ain't being overlooked. They know you're there but there are probably some hoops and some assurances that your school needs to make to the BSC cuz although you think you are on the rise your school has had a long period of being in the cellar. That is one possible reason, another may be that your school has made assurances that will upgrade facilities and can handle it financially and so forth and that is just taking a bit more time.

If things aren't gonna get better at SUU then you can't expect the BSC to see you as an asset and I would bet that is shaky so the BSC may need some sweet talking on the matter instead of just cashing the check on your word.

I think that SUU will be the 12th team but SUU had better be motivated to do it quickly because the down side for you guys is pretty big at this point.

I know the MVFC has a pretty hefty buy out for NDSU, SDSU, and WIU if they try to leave the league...and that's for a football only league. I would imagine if UNI, SIU, MSU, etc... tried to leave the MVC as an all sports member the buy out would be massive.
