61 yard FG!!!
I know it's not FCS, but SMU kicker Matt Szymanski just made a 61 yard FG, with a couple yards to spare.

Re: 61 yard FG!!!
Travis Dorsch from Bozeman High would routinely kick 65-70 yard fgs in practice. He went on to punt for Purdue than................................no clue.
That is still an incredible kick from that distance in a game.

He was drafted by the Packers, then went all over the place. I met him at a kicking/punting camp in high school. Dude had a cannon for a leg for both punting and kicking.ALPHAGRIZ1 wrote:Travis Dorsch from Bozeman High would routinely kick 65-70 yard fgs in practice. Lot of crazy looking plays in that drive and the drive after for SMU.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:I know it's not FCS, but SMU kicker Matt Szymanski just made a 61 yard FG, with a couple yards to spare.![]()

Got a TD on 4th and goal after the pass was tipped by a player from TTU and went into the hands of the TE in the end-zone. If the TTU player hadn't tipped it, it would have just hit the guy in the head and fallen to the ground, he wasn't even looking when it got there.
Before the field goal a player from SMU had a silly one-handed away from his body catch to convert for a first.
Next play after that a TTU rusher jumped over the QB when he went up to deflect a pass, completely whiffed on him, but the next guy in got the sack.

Sac State kicker Diniz drilled a 52 yarder at Stanford. Not sure if any FCS kickers have topped that in week 1.

Re: 61 yard FG!!!
Zach Brown had a 53 yarder for Portland State against Arizona State. Longest in his career and tied for the second longest in PSU history. Later on, the ASU kicker also had a FG from 50+ yards. PSU play by play were remarking about how usual each team had a 50+ FG made in the same game.SDHornet wrote:Sac State kicker Diniz drilled a 52 yarder at Stanford. The only bright spot last night. Otherwise, very depressing.SDHornet wrote:Touche'.JALMOND wrote:
