- Best Performance: DE Lawrence Sidbury - The Spiders' top pass rusher abused Montana's RTs all-night, racking up 4 sacks & totally destroying Cole Bergquist's rhythm. Griz WR Marc Mariani gets an honorable mention with 7 receptions for 172 yards that included an outstanding diving catch that I heard was ESPN's top play Friday night.
Worst Performance: Montana's Line Play - The defense got pushed around and the offense couldn't keep defenders out of the backfield in the early going. Not surprisingly, the Griz trailed by three TDs at halftime. If you lose the trench battle, you almost always lose the game.
Most Surprising Result: Missed Opportunities - Richmond gave UM plenty of chances to get back in it in the second half—namely a nonexistent offense & mediocre punt protection—but the Griz couldn't quite capitalize & only outscored the Spiders 7-3 after halftime.
