First off, congrats to Dayton. A very one sided rivalry.

Looks like it might be the same old story for RMU. I listened to game, I do not recall them going to the shotgun once. The O-line which has something like 80 combined starts could not hold back Dayton. I know Coach Walton does not like shotgun, but I think it would give our QB a little more time to make decisions.

D tried to keep them in the game, but were on the field most of the game. Penalties were killer as well. A bunch of personal fouls against the Colonials. Seems like for the last 4 years, D plays well enough to keep them in it, but O just has no consistency.

Hopefully they get their S together soon.

Congrats to Albany, Bryant, SHU and the hated Dukes. Wish Monmouth could have pulled it out.

Pretty disappointing weekend for the NEC, in my opinion.

Maybe as the season goes on the first week won't look as bad, but right now its not great.

I disagree. Pretty good weekend IMO, especially for week 1 with a lot of young NEC teams.

Bryant (A+) Excellent win at home vs scholarship PL team. Scored 44 points!
Albany (A-) Big win on the road vs CAA foe. Lack of offense production but had opportunities.
Duquesne (B+) Delivered the win at home vs PL team.
Sacred Heart (B) Wins opening road game vs a FCS opponent. Scores 4TDs on the ground, holds off comeback.
Monmouth (B-) Nice comeback and let a winnable game get away. Slow start, but has potential.
Saint Francis (C+) Great start under new coach, excellent 1st half. Still could be a long year.
Central (C-) Disapointing score, gave up big plays and ground to a top-10 opponent. Did settele down in the 2nd half.
Robert Morris (D) Played a tough team, but have to win that to be a contender in the NEC.

NEC vs.
Patriot (2-1)
CAA (1-1)
Pioneer (1-1)
Big South (0-1)

Pretty good in the grading department, Professor Ace!

I think that you're being a little tough on your CCSU team, however. I would think that they deserve at least the same grade as St. Francis.

Congratulations to the Danes, Pioneers, Bulldogs, and of course the Dukes. :thumb: Monmouth, St. Francis, and Central Connecticut at least repped the NEC well in their (expected?) losses. Robert Morris? 119 yards in penalties, and many of those penalties are personal fouls?? Are you kidding me???

Monmouth, down by 1 late in the game, chose to go for the two point conversion rather than tieing the game and going into OT. I would have taken my chances in OT.

I had the opportunity to attend the Bryant game. Most Fordham fans sat behind their team and even though there were not many they were load and good fans. Bryant had a good game, a few times Coach Fine got into calling too many running plays and the game became closer than it should have. Overall, a good first game, nice crowd 5,100+ in attendance and Bryant had the generic "pro-combat uniforms".
