That's what I picked, too, but I also expected them to win this game (Tulane's pretty lousy).Silenoz wrote:Woooo, I knew picking them to take the Southland in the conference champs thread was the right decision

Regardless...I gave SLU the best chance of an SLC FBS win.
Any word on the final?
Re: SELA @ Tulane Game Thread
Hey Tulane is hardly a MAC or Sun Belt team. Plus they certainly put away McNeese last year
Re: SELA @ Tulane Game Thread
Tulane wins 27-21. Beatty, SLU QB was hurt on the last play of the game but I have no idea how bad. SLU had 4 turnovers during the game which was the difference. The Lion defense sounded pretty good on the internet broadcast.
Re: SELA @ Tulane Game Thread
McNeese lost last year the same way SLU did tonight. TurnoversSilenoz wrote:Hey Tulane is hardly a MAC or Sun Belt team. Plus they certainly put away McNeese last year

Not really! Go back and check the score and the stats. We just made too many mistakes last season.Silenoz wrote:Hey Tulane is hardly a MAC or Sun Belt team. Plus they certainly put away McNeese last year
And it is fricking Tulane we are talking about. They aren't much better than MAC or Sun Belt teams.

Well, this would have been awesome. I think CatMom is right, that this was the SLC's best shot at getting a win. Tulane.....ahh, its frustrating, cause these are the games we need to win to provide us credibility.
Re: SELA @ Tulane Game Thread
Hey, it's just my opinion. This game was in doubt until the final minute, against a C-USA team that beat McNeese last year. I think that says good things about SELA. Sheesh!McNeese72 wrote:Not really! Go back and check the score and the stats. We just made too many mistakes last season.Silenoz wrote:Hey Tulane is hardly a MAC or Sun Belt team. Re: SELA @ Tulane Game Thread
This game was very winnable for us...we had four turnovers, two of which were very questionable and went to the replay booth regarding forward progress...the kicker is, the first one was a play from the one-yardline going in which our RB was laying on a pile -stopped - and reached the ball out over the goalline...Tulane defender knocked it away, but officials on the field ruled progress had been stopped and blew it dead at the one-inch line...replay booth chose to look at it and reversed it, saying progress had not been stopped when clearly it had been...it was questionable as to whether our runner got the ball over the goalline first, before it came out...they also said it was recovered and downed in the endzone, when the Tulane player advanced it out to the one-half yardline...gave them the ball at the 20...we intercepted a pass a couple of plays later and scored in two plays, so it really didn't hurt us.
The second controversial one - and most costly - was deep in our territory with the score 20-14...Simmie Yarborough catches a short pass and gets stood up and is being driven backwards...ball comes out, well after forward progress is stopped and is starting to move backwards...officials on the field let the play go, and rule it a fumble, recovered by Tulane at our 7...when our head coach calls timeout wanting to challenge it, officials tell him that forward progress plays aren't reviewable...meanwhile, they had overturned the other one for the very same reason.
We outgained them, and pretty much shut them down after their opening drive, which was perfectly executed...we were able to get consistent four-man pressure and had four sacks on the night...would have had five but chose to take a holding penalty instead of the play...play well in spurts offensively, but never really had the ball and had bad field position a lot of the night.
