Doctoral programs do not equate to academic excellence. There are many, many universities that do not offer any doctoral programs yet are very renowned for academics.frinq wrote:One thing;s dam sure - they weren't thinking "academic excellence" with Boise Stte on board. They have what, 3 doctoral programs? Acqademic excellence is just b..l sh..t for public consuumption.

If it looks like a cow, smells like a cow, and moo's like a cow, it's a UC Davis coed.

I'm going off memory, but I did post all of my supporting sources for all of my comments, over the past few weeks, at SacBuzz if you want to check them out. I'm just too lazy to go through all of them and re-post them here.biobengal wrote:Can you point me to a link RE: LA Tech looking for a new conference. I think the WAC is on life support, will remain to be seen if they are able to stay alive. I really hope the Griz stand pat unless something major plays out with the WAC. I think the WAC will fade into the sunset.............

I could, but frankly, I'm feeling really lazy right now. This is common knowledge in WAC-land, and is spelled out in the resolution that was introduced to entice BYU to join (the one with the $5mil penalty for leaving). It specifically exempts LaTech, for this reason.biobengal wrote:Can you point me to a link RE: LA Tech looking for a new conference. The most obvious sign is that, when the WAC members agreed to the $5 million withdrawal fee for switching conferences, Louisiana Tech was specifically excluded from the requirement. They can leave whenever they want.

I wouldn't be surprised to see LA Tech gone after next season.LastMinuteman wrote:The most obvious sign is that, when the WAC members agreed to the $5 million withdrawal fee for switching conferences, Louisiana Tech was specifically excluded from the requirement. They can leave whenever they want.

Re: WAC looking to exapnd for the 2012-2013 season
You guys know that CUSA doesn't want La Tech right. Temple seems to be at the top of their list if they were to lose anyone which doesn't seem likely for a while now. La Tech falls in or behind MTSU, UNT, FAU. Sun Belt or WAC is La Tech's options.
I can't see the WAC stopping at 8 with UTSA, Texas St. if Sac St. is ready to go up at the same time. They'll add all of them and still ask for Montana and Potland St., while telling Cal Poly and UC Davis to add seats so they can get ready for a call to move up.
