No. I want to drive 100 miles to see Delaware. ;) It's looking like coaching soccer might interfere with several other home games so I have to make ones I can. The real problem is driving up during rush hour. If we come, we will leave straight from school at 3pm.

Just a heads up, especially for those who may be coming down 896 southbound for the game:

http://www.delawareonline.com/article/2 ... his-season

No left turns from 896 (S. College) southbound into the blue/gold/ice arena lots. You'll have to make a U-turn at 4 (Chestnut Hill). If I were you, I'd consider banging a left on Cleveland, right on 72, right on 4, right on 896 to avoid what's surely going to be an ugly backup on 896 south waiting to make that U-turn at the 4 intersection. Also, the grass lots south of the gold lot are closed due to the Bob expansion.

Article says 20,000 seats sold so far for the opener.

Top 2 (RB) with the other being Daryl Brown from the early 90's.

Omar owns most of the rushing records at UD...

KT is very optimistic about the season: http://blogs.delawareonline.com/college ... l-hens-do/

How good will they be?

In my opinion, 8-3 or 9-2 good.

Every reason in the world to be optimistic - team's healthy, Devlin is a senior in his second year in the system, they've uncovered a likely RB gem in Pierce, experience galore at the WR spot, 7 home games, and maybe even more importantly, everyone other than nova is taking steps back from where they were last year (W&M a small step perhaps, Richmond a huge step). 8-3 should be the minimum for this team with the schedule they have and the team they have. KC's tenure will certainly be underfire if this team isn't playing home games in December this year.

F. I'm pulling the plug on tomorrow night. No way I fight Labor Day rush hour traffic. I'm going to stay home, watch the game on the laptop while watching the I-A season open on ESPN, drink beer, eat food and be in bed by 11pm. 8-)

Dad and I are leaving around 2:30ish tomorrow. Should be all set up in the gold lot and burning kabobs by 4pm. :thumb:

Problem is, the earliest I could leave is 3:30. Hit Baltimore tunnels at 5ish, Newark at 6:59. Not worth it.

Best I can do is leave work at 2PM, get home by 3PM, meet up with the rest of the fam by 4PM, and hopefully get to the Gold Lot by 4:45PM (likely later). Will have to hope traffic cooperates. I'm crossing my fingers.

Agreed. You'd be covering 100 miles (or so) of some of the worst traffic and tolls in America during rush hour the day before a holiday weekend.

Problem REALLY is, the schedule comes out a year in advance & proper prior planning is not well done here, if at all.

I was watching the 1986 season review...we barely beat WCU...with two seconds left we take an option in for the game winning TD...That was the Gannon, Booker era and we barely won...how times have changed.

Stateline...the Tubby comments on that DVD are just the best...thanks again man.

Those West Chester teams in the mid-80's were actually better than Delaware at the time - Al Niemela and Billy Hess were unstoppable for the Golden Rams. I mean, UD won the Yankee Conference in 1988 despite getting beat by West Chester by double digits. Kinda also shows how different the conference was back then.

What a 'Tale of Yankee Success' that season was. :notworthy: :hump:

Bullet/Rocket Bob Norris - RIP, Todd Lott, Kenny Lucas, Joe McGrail

I can pull up the soundtrack for that cassette/DVD in my mind on command. Unfortunately I have it in a box at our storage unit since we're in the middle of a move to our new house. Football Season Eve would have been the night to have that baby in the box and hitting the rewind button.

Devlin looks to be missing high on a lot of his passes. I hope he corrects that for next week.

BTW, I hate this game and can't wait for this series to end. Delaware looks less than sharp to me and it is still 21 - 0 in the first half.

1st half total yards...UD 280, WCUPA 35

6 penalties for 60 yards for UD
1 Fumble on the goalline
Multiple dropped passes from guys who usually don't get the dropsies (Schenaur usually catches everything that comes his way, and I still can't get Mackey's drop where he could have walked into the endzone).

Lots of stuff to clean up. Have to be true to the "You improve the most from the 1st to the 2nd game" mantra.

West Chester also won easily in 1983. The final margin was 8 (if I recall correctly), but the game wasn't that close.

This series should have ended long ago.. it's nothing more than a scrimmage and the entire 2d half reminded me of the 4th quarter of a bad NFL preseason game.

One big positive note.. UD has a potential emerging star at RB.. true Fr Andrew Pierce (AP) ;)
looks like the next great UD RB.

I agree that I hate this game. UD got out of it relatively unscathed injury wise, don't think White or Makumbi are too serious. Sloppy game, too many penalties and poor WR play. Too many drops, fumbles and WR's losing footing.

Pierce looks like the real deal and the OL looks better run blocking. Defense looked pretty good, WCU couldn't run and couldn't throw except some quick slants or outs.

We'll know tons more come dinner time 9/11.
