I originally thought this thread was going to be about poor rural infrastructure or unconstitutional segregationist laws.

with good weather im hoping for 15,000 for the game if we haven't lost a conf game. though 10-12k would be more realistic.

i wasnt sure what i thought when i saw "black-out" on the schedule but if they are going to try and do somethings to hype up the game then i'm all for it.

At least your team won. That was the worst game AND weather I've experienced in.... ever.

Dude, I've been going to those games longer than you have but if you want to go 55/45 I'll give you that. It is normally louder for MT than it is for EWU in that stadium. :D

That's because EWU fans are retarded and don't know how to yell on 3rd down or get chants going. :ohno: :ohno:

There's 8600 permanent seats (1600 endzone, 6000 grandstand, and 1000 on the bleachers). They add in another 2000+ bleacher seats for the Griz game. The grandstand and endzone are usually almost all EWU fans, so 7600, with the remaining all griz... 3000+. I know you're not real keen in the math dept, but that's almost exactly 60/40.

I dont trust Weber's box score attendance numbers, In our homecoming game last season vs Sac the box score said there was only 8,218 fans at the game, but I remember being at that game and when I went down to buy some food and a drink, I looked up into the stands on the eastern side and they were full and the stands on the west side were full, and if Stewart Stadium holds 17,500 each side has to hold AT LEAST 8,000 and if both sides were full there is no way that only 8,218 fans showed up. The same with our game vs ISU which said we had 8,467 and I thought our Sac crowd was much larger. This happens alot in our basketball games to, I dont think Weber is taking accurate attendance numbers. They are probably not counting the students.

Im happy that Weber is going to try this blackout, this is the first time since 5 years ago when Mcbride took over and Weber promoted a "Pack the Stadium Night" and Weber got thier now record attendance number of 17,596, that Weber has tried to really get the fans interested, I do like Weber's new AD though, I think he really cares for our athletics.

This is a pic of Mcbrides first game on "Pack the Stadium Night" 17,596 attendance

The thing is our homecoming game (like stated before) vs Sac last year looked alot like this (the size of the crowd) and if there was only 8,200 at the Sac game why was there 17,596 at this game?

I was thinking the same thing....more like a rainout with lots of silver seat backs on the home side. Could have called it a "knockout" by halftime. :thumb:

The local minor league hockey team (Rapid City Rush) tried to promote white-outs at home games during the playoffs last year, but they depended on the fans to acquire white shirts and it didn't work out all that well. It's much more effective (but obviously more costly) if you give out shirts for everyone to wear.
my guess is they may have a promotion and had out black shirts. they've dont it a few times at basketball games.

I'm plenty keen on math and can't tell you how easy it will be to work backwards and come up with the ratio you did only in the opposing direction. That's the thing about working backwards SE, it's easy to make it work out how you like when you can fill in what the ingredients are to the actually outcome.

Let me work this one out for you and show ya:

Total points in last years MT/EWU game-75

Now I say MT had about 60% of the toal points and EWU had about 40%

Montana 45
EWU 30

See 75 points. It's settled, that's the final score.

Back when the games were in Spokanistan at Joe Albi it was easily 60-40 in favor of Griz fans, then EWU wised up & moved the game back to the wheat field & it went back to about 50-50. The last 2 times I have been to Cheney there were a large number of Griz fans on the west side where the EWU fans sit.

Exactly, I've never sat on the visitor's side when I've been there and I've been around mostly Griz fans in the section gave us.

In Joe Albi the Griz side was fuller than the EWU side both times I was there for that.

A friend of mine has pointed out that Penn State's white-out works so well because everyone there is, well, white. When someone like U of IA does a blackout its just not going to look nearly as impressive unless you hand out blackface at the gate, which I think would be frowned upon.

So the question becomes, what is the demographic makeup of Weber?

Note that Penn State's white-out also works because there are 100,000+ people jammed in space the size of 2 city blocks.
Thread-killer extraordinaire.
