UMass Adds Bodies

Post by Col Hogan »

From UMass74's Blog

Nick Speller a 6-5 RS SO transfer from Syracuse. Was a ten game starter for the Orange, Phil Steele Big East All freshman team.

James Lizotte, a 6-3 215 SO transfer from Holy Cross. Was a member of a number of All-Star teams. National Honor society. Seems to be a good Mass pickup. He will have to sit out a year as a lateral transfer.

Mike Kahale, a 6-2 235 OL from Marlborough, MA. He's probably destined for the defensive line. Honor society. Several All-Star teams.

Jeff Skoog, a 6-6 330 FR OL from Hudson, MA. Two year All-league. Honor Society. Has Pro size.

Ryan Delaire, a 6-4 225 pd FR LB from Windsor, CT. All-Conference, Honor Society. Has I-A linebacker size that we rarely see.
Obviously, Speller is a big addition to the OL...here's his initial UMass Bio...

Transfet U. at it again, and they'll still finish in the CAA's bottom half.

UD fans smacking?? Both teams records have stunk it up the last 2 years

Our offensive line looks pretty solid even after losing Ducasse. Hopefully Havens will have matured and can manage the offense instead of trying to be a playmaker. Griffin will help, with a sold Hernandez sharing the backfield. Some O-linemen with D-line expierance have been moved to D-line, should help. I'm a bit more optomistic about this season....Historically we are down for a few years then rebound and have strong seasons for a few in a row..we will see soon enough.

I'm bummed we don't play each other this year. I like that series and hope it returns.

I'd love for Albany to play either Fordham or UMass (or both) every year.

I'd like the games better if you (Albany)had 63 rides and you guys build that stadium I saw plans for. Would definately make a trip to that stadium... Albany is a trap game for us right now...you guys are too good for only 42 rides..You guys would have beaten us and UNH in 2008 if you had some more depth.. I hope you guys come over to the CAA and up your schollies...

We all wish for that and I completely understand why UMass might not want to play Albany, even in spite of the butt kicking we took last year.

And on the stadium front - it looks like Phase I will be ready for the 2012 opener (if construction goes as planned). it will be smaller than the video showed (6,000 seats versus 10,000) but the money is secured and the project is out to bid already. :thumb:
