The music used in the song can definitely be used in a Mickey Mouse parade at Disneyland.
Re: Look who's got a new fight song- Gayest ever!
I guess when your own fight song sounds like it's straight out of Looney Tunes, you look for any replacement as "Gayest Fight Song Ever" you can find.

Agreed - certainly some hopeful deflection here.00bluehen wrote:I guess when your own fight song sounds like it's straight out of Looney Tunes, you look for any replacement as "Gayest Fight Song Ever" you can find.

Looney Tunes? Y'alls fight song sounds much more like something Elmer Fudd runs around to than ours; ours sounds like a goofy musical number. Won't leave your head, though, will it.00bluehen wrote:I guess when your own fight song sounds like it's straight out of Looney Tunes, you look for any replacement as "Gayest Fight Song Ever" you can find.

Accurate? The JMU fight song DOES sound like Looney Tunes and I seriously doubt you've ever heard the UD fight song if you think ours sounds like anything Fuddlike. You could accuse UD's of sounding like many other traditional fight songs, but certainly not Looney Tunes.DirtyDukes wrote:Looney Tunes? How does this prove your point? I mean it's obviously an incredible video with a cute little girl, and probably the best rendition of the JMU fight song ever. But it certainly doesn't make me think of Looney Tunes.89Hen wrote:Accurate? As for traditional fight songs, yeah UDs sounds like it. But traditional fight songs sound like traditional marching pieces, like John Phillip Sousa's famous marches, which are frequently used in most cartoons, especially Looney Tunes.

Come on, you guys ripped off the whole "Overture" riff from Looney Tunes. It's not even debatable. Granted, at least you guys picked a cool cartoon to mimic.DirtyDukes wrote:How does this prove your point? Pretty sure I can hear "fight for the Blue and Gold" fitting perfectly in seconds 15-35.

I'm sensing a nerve hit here - who knew JMU people were so anti-Looney Tunes, despite stealing the "Overture" riff?DirtyDukes wrote:

This thread turned into exactly what I feared it would...
I knew one of the Blue Hennys would bring up Looney Tunes and somebody would feel compelled to respond.
Thread officially hijacked.

The only thing more "comical" (double entendre intended) than the JMU fight song is your defense of it. You lose on this one. Put down the shovel and walk away from the hole.

Re: Look who's got a new fight song- Gayest ever!
This thread went from comical to awesome! Nice work boys.

Re: Look who's got a new fight song- Gayest ever!
I never said it wasn't comical, in fact I said it was musical like.
I didn't lose anything; anyone with half of a musical ear and who listens to the video I just posted and UD's fight song knows I'm right.
The JMU fight song, corny as it may be, has a much more contemporary feel to it than Looney Tunes, due to it's later composition than such ancient gems as Delaware fans - I mean Delaware's fight song. Turn up your hearing aids, guys.

I could say the same thing for the Looney Tunes/deflection strategy.89Hen wrote:Half a musical ear must be all you have. Going with the blue hair strategy?DirtyDukes wrote:I never said it wasn't comical, in fact I said it was musical like.

I'm not saying the JMU Fight Song isn't corny, I just don't think it sounds like anything Looney Tunes-esque.
However, I still love our fight song and how much other schools can't get it out of their heads.

Yes, you love your fight song so much, you guys couldn't wait to post another school's song in the hopes it might supplant yours as "Gayest Ever." You lose! buh-dee buh-dee buh-dee buh-dee, That's all, Folks!

I wasn't saying you were deflecting, I was referring to GannonFan accusing BDK of "hopeful reflection."89Hen wrote:DirtyDukes wrote:I could say the same thing for the Looney Tunes/deflection strategy.

However, I still love our fight song and how much other schools can't get it out of their heads. It's not deflection. It's accusatory. Big difference. You are alone in thinking it's not EXACTLY the LT intro. I haven't thought about your song until it came up on this thread. We all remember it because it's so corny. It reminds us of watching cartoons on Saturday mornings as kids.
And for 00bluehen, I didn't create this thread, so thanks for your waste of a post.
