CAA love??
Ok you CAA people out there. If I, or we, say that the CAA is the best conference in the nation will you stop saying it every chance you get? I am sick and tired of hearing it on every audio clip from coaches, message board posters and the like. If we say the CAA is the best right now, will you stop with the CAA love crap forever???

Then this would open a can of worms where they say WaGriz is the greatest and we don't get to toot our own horn anymore. What if they also say that the cold in Missoula WILL affect incoming teams or that the Hellgate breeze has an affect? We can't ask others to give up their talking points unless we are willing to surrender ours.grizzaholic wrote:Ok you CAA people out there. Fine with me. It doesn't even get cold anymore in the fall. I don't push Wa-Griz into every Grizzly conversation but as of late the CAA talk is getting out of hand. Just my opinion.Ursus A. Delaware and Umass both. One field goal could have tied both of those games together otherwise the CAA would be ofer there. Oh for the purpses of this discussion what I wouldn't have done for a couple of field goals. But you're right regardless...It is the best thing going today (said in the Rick Flair voice).Col Hogan wrote:Hey, I can't speak for other CAAers, but we liked Wa Griz...Ursus A. I think you missed the point that we have a lot of fans that say the same hack shit over and over as well. If some of them are a little over board with their view of things then so be it. They shall be proven wrong or right and that's the way it goes. So far though they have been right a lot. I'd rather they be overzealous than under zealous as it makes for more interesting discussions due to the conflict.grizzaholic wrote:Fine with me. It doesn't even get cold anymore in the fall. Montana is 8-4 against the CAA. The four losses were by a total of 14 pts. The eight wins were by a total of 143 pts. We are intimidated by the superlative CAA.

(...this is scary...JMU and Richmond were a pretty even pairing...Richmond had a notably better passing game, JMU better rushing [of course] but JMU had two turnovers...everything else fell in the middle. Montana owned JMU, not in stats, but in execution...JMU beat themselves with turnovers and a poor game plan. I'd kill to get an injured status report...neither team can afford to give up any talent. My gut says Griz by a large margin, but my brain says to be conservative...who'd a thunk?)

Re: CAA love??
None of those turnovers were "unforced". They were HAMMERED on the three fumbles....the only one I'd give a pass on is the interception....see my post in the JMU v Montana thread regarding Griz turnovers vs JMU taking care of the ball. Griz---23 turnovers forced in last 7 games...JMU 4 turnovers in last 7 games. One of those has to give...it was JMU. That's not an accident.travelinman67 wrote:kemajic wrote:Montana is 8-4 against the CAA. The four losses were by a total of 14 pts. The eight wins were by a total of 143 pts. The CAA is the best conference in terms of having a good number of high quality teams and they have been for the past couple of years. What really irritates me is those CAA homers who:grizzaholic wrote:Ok you CAA people out there. 1) Think that any team from another conference with a good record won all those games because their conference is filled with pushovers and that they couldn't survive in the CAA. This perspective shows a lack of knowledge about and disrespect for the rest of the FCS (i.e. ignorance).
2) Seem to think that the CAA has always been and will always be the "best" conference. These things are cyclical, there have been years where the Valley/Gateway, Big Sky, SoCon and Southland have each earned the right to call themselves the deepest and/or best conference in FCS/I-AA and those years will come again. To not understand this demonstrates a lack of maturity and perspective.
CAA fans should appreciate their current good fortunes but immature and ignorant is no way to go through life.

Agreed. I watched the replays carefully, it didn't look like ST was intentionally trying to strip the ball...just good 'ol, straight hits. Just looks like JMU wasn't protecting.AZGrizFan wrote: None of those turnovers were "unforced". The Southland hasn't been as successful as in the past but it does have a proud history with multiple teams making and advancing in the playoffs including 87 Nat'l Champ Norteast Lousiana (now Louisiana Monroe) and runners up Arkansas St, Louisiana Tech, McNeese St, and Stephen F. Austin.pantherrob82 wrote:When was the Southland EVER the best?
There's also nothing to say that the OVC won't someday regain their position of prominence.

Now, you make me blush...
Someone will jump on this one, but in your list, you should include the MEAC too...after all, The Rattlers from FAMU won the first IAA/FCS championship way back in 1978...defeating my alma mater in a game that still has it's place in broadcasting history...
I forgot who the Play-by-play guy was, but "The Legendary" Darrell Royal (Texas Coach who had recently retired) was hired by ABC to do the color commentary...
We all crowded into the one sports bar in Amherst (hey, it was 1978...not many sports bars then) to watch the game...
Well, Coach Royal, with his thick Oklahoma/Texas accent, could not for his life pronounce Massachusetts...it came out Mass-a-two-shits...and for some reason, he wouldn't call the team the Minutemen...well, after a few minutes of Mass-A-Two-Shits, we're screaming at the TV...
Anyway, the rest is history...we lost...and it took us another 20 years to get back to the finals and win...
And the MEAC hasn't won since then...but, maybe, could make a comeback....

Well 3 of the 4 CAA teams are already out, if Montana wins the title, I would have to say.....um, no the CAA is not the toughest conference.
