Only real surprise is Richmond being ahead of Maine. But after nova, #2 through #5 is pretty much a toss-up this year and anyone could finish anywhere there, and UMass should be where they are. Pretty decent list.

For as bad as we were last year, we did beat URI. But it is what it is. This will actually be a motivator for Towson.

I think that 2-8 could finish in any order.

Based upon what was lost from last year's teams, Delaware and Maine deserve more love and Richmond and W&M not so much....

Not to worry - the actual season has a way of correcting preseason overhype (although I still think W&M will be pretty good - Richmond should nosedive this year, though).LeadBolt wrote:Based upon what was lost from last year's teams, Delaware and Maine deserve more love and Richmond and W&M not so much....

Re: CAA Preseason Poll Announced
As I've said before, and as we've all seen in the past, pre season polls are pretty meaningless. I would not ever be picked 1st, as its more of a target on your back. Other than that, I could care less if JMU was picked 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 8th, etc. Only thing that matters is the standings in Nov.
In the last 6 seasons, only once, last season, has the team picked to win the CAA South gone ahead to win the South, and that was last yr with Nova. Heck, 2 years 05'-06' the team picked to win the South has missed the playoffs.
04' UD picked 1st, made quarterfinals. JMU picked 4th?, finishes 2nd to W&M, wins NC
05' JMU picked 1st, missed playoffs. UR picked 5th, wins South/playoffs
06' UR picked 1st, missed playoffs. JMU picked 2nd, wins South/playoffs
07’ JMU picked 1st, finishes 2nd, makes playoffs. UR picked 4th, wins South, playoffs.
08’ UR picked 1st, finishes 3rd, makes playoffs, wins NC.
09’ Nova picked 1st, finishes 1st, makes playoffs, wins NC.
So as you can see from above, most seasons pre seasons CAA predictions don't mean jack....
