Re: SLC Media Day/Pre-season Selections
A lot of teams will be breaking in new QB's, it should make for an exciting season. Not saying I disagree with McNeese being ranked second because they always field a good team, but I am pretty sure they lost A LOT on offense. Can't wait for the season to get started!

Re: SLC Media Day/Pre-season Selections
Losing Derrick Fourroux alone will be a challenge for McNeese to replace. They'll adequately replace Pendland with Champ Babin, and maybe the WRs, but Fourroux made their offensive engine go the last three years. They do have a transfer coming in from Tulsa, but he's not as mobile, hasn't taken a meaningful snap in three years and he and his wife had a child this summer...can't imagine trying to learn a new offense while changing diapers at 3 am.FWJack wrote:A lot of teams will be breaking in new QB's, it should make for an exciting season. Re: SLC Media Day/Pre-season Selections
SFA fans know all too well what its like to not win a game. It happened to us in the 2007 season (I think, I have tried to forget). But we went winless two seasons ago and then lose only three games while appearing in the second round of the playoffs last season. Anything can happen.jhanel wrote:We earned our ranking with last years performance, but its going to feel good to win some games this year! Fork'Em

I think Mr. Bowers brings something different to the table than DF did and it could be special.slulionsfan wrote:Believing what? That Fourroux will be a challenge to replace?McNeese75 wrote:

Re: SLC Media Day/Pre-season Selections
I talked to a TE that has been working with the rest of the receivers with him and he says that he is the "real deal". Throws great and is very, very, smart. I hope he is right. I'm reserving judgement until I see him in the preseason scrimmages.slulionsfan wrote:Yes we will.McNeese75 wrote:

As far as runningbacks, Marcus Wiltz might be just as good Champlain Babin.
Doc
P.S. I made a comment to the TE about learning the playbook. He said that Mr. Bower had already learned most all of it.

Sounds like you guys should go ahead and call Jostens...get it over with.McNeese72 wrote:I talked to a TE that has been working with the rest of the receivers with him and he says that he is the "real deal". LOL! Don't know about that. It's going to be shootout this season. I just wanted to people to know, that our offensive cupboard may not be as bare as it appears.slulionsfan wrote:Sounds like you guys should go ahead and call Jostens...get it over with.McNeese72 wrote:

Re: SLC Media Day/Pre-season Selections
I don't think anybody believes the cupboard is "bare" but if I were a McNeese fan, I wouldn't be counting on an even exchange in production and leadership from Fourroux to Bower. As 75 said, he may very well be "special" and exceed Fourroux in all aspects, but the history of one-year transfer QBs with few meaningful snaps under their belts at the D-I level is pretty spotty.McNeese72 wrote:LOL! With the way the league is shaping up this fall, it may be that he doesn't need to "replace" Fourroux's production in order to accomplish the Cowboys' goals, as long as he manages the offense effectively, doesn't turn the ball over, and makes an occasional big play. If he is as good as advertised, like I said, call Jostens!!!
We're in a similar boat with Tyler Beatty. Skill-wise, he's considerably more talented than Brian Babin, and can chunk it around the yard with the best of 'em, but I don't expect him to put up Babin's numbers, nor replace his huddle leadership. We do expect to be able to run the ball and play defense, and if he can manage the game and doesn't give the ball away, we think we can be pretty good...we shall see of course.
Re: SLC Media Day/Pre-season Selections
I said Bower would be special, I did not say he would "exceed Fourroux in all aspects". Nobody knows anything now but the Cowboy nation is more optomistic than we were in the Spring.slulionsfan wrote:I don't think anybody believes the cupboard is "bare" but if I were a McNeese fan, I wouldn't be counting on an even exchange in production and leadership from Fourroux to Bower.
