I will be supporting the Griz against the Vols as I will any FCS program against the evil empire (FBS).
Re: Griz to play Tennessee in 2011
It's great that we (FCS) don't get immediately discounted anymore when playing a big program. I've always wanted to go to Neyland (my brother was there for a year) and that might not be a bad one to go to. I'll even wear a Montana shirt for the highest bidder.griz8791 wrote:http://www.volnation.com/forum/3796153-post15.htmlNewyland Law Vol wrote:why don't we just play a cupcake Bowl division team. Well I guess that depends on who you ask about it, doesn't it Neyland Law Vol?

Re: Griz to play Tennessee in 2011
If UT can keep its current rate of arrests, suspensions, and outgoing transfers up it will be 63 against 63 and Montana might get a big win.

Re: Griz to play Tennessee in 2011
So da Griz will be going to Knoxville the first week of 2011 and then about 200 miles east to Boone to open the 2012 season. Looks like the trips to Nooga and Streamersburg has got da Griz envious for more of the East Coast.

Would be an interesting game for sure if it happened. SEC arrogance may well lead to an upset.
If nothing else its nice to see that Pflugrad is willing to schedule better teams than Western State and Adams State to open the season...even if it is likely to be a loss.
As much as I hate the SEC and Tennessee in general they do have arguably my favorite fight song in college football.

When I lived in Phoenix I became friends with the UT alumni coordinator for games in Phoenix. I got her hooked on the Griz as her second favorite team. She now lives in Charlotte, NC and I have already told her she is putting me and the wife up for the game - her family lives closer to Knoxville.
I sure hope this happens.

I can't, you're too busy bogartin' it in yer ass. I wish I were as dedicated as you but I guess I just don't want it bad enough. That O-ring of yours ever gives way though and you're gonna have a BP style disaster on your...back.Jibjab wrote:LOL Oh hi Anus, what took you so long to reply? Nah, just wanted to give more people back there the privilege (and honor, really) of seeing them in person. Grizalltheway, where do you find the video snipets on your sig line? It is very distracting and near impossible to actually read your posts.Grizalltheway wrote:Nah, just wanted to give more people back there the privilege (and honor, really) of seeing them in person. Re: Griz to play Tennessee in 2011
I saw UT play Kentucky on Thanksgiving weekend in 2004 (damn it, App wasn't in the playoffs) in a bit of a rain storm. The atmosphere was pretty good, considering that UK isn't much of a rival and we were sitting in an area of the stadium where you couldn't hear the band too well, so we didn't have to hear Rocky Top every 5 seconds. Get ready to hear a whole lot about womens basketball while you're at the game, cause they love it in Knoxville. There's a bar on the river right beside the stadium that was a good time after the game. Can't remember the name, but I'm sure someone here knows it.
And Montana would have likely beaten UT last year, and should have a decent shot at it in 2011. The Griz will have to play against the refs and the Vols, though, so it won't be easy.

My APPS are always #1 in my heart but Tennessee is second. This is great for UT and for Montana/FCS. Montana should be able to bring a lot to the table, even though I don't know what they'll lose after this season. As far as I know, Tennessee has never played an FCS team - maybe someone can correct me on that If I'm wrong?

And, Tennessee will be playing their first I-AA/FCS team this year - Tennessee Martin.

Gotcha, can't believe I forgot that they are opening with the Skyhawks. Hopefully Dooley can come out of the gate strong with this bunch.Skjellyfetti wrote:AppStateAlumQC wrote:My APPS are always #1 in my heart but Tennessee is second. Looks like it's official. I can't wait to watch this game, and will be rooting for the Griz upset, even though that'd make their fanbase even more annoying. Or should I say unbearable.

No shit. I can't imagine the kinds fo threads and what conference would be better for us at that point and who is going to be donating a large sum of money...fuck that would be tough on a guy for a while.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:Looks like it's official. You can tell it's the middle of summer. I'm surprised there hasn't been more reaction to this.
This is big news! It's great to see the Griz making the trip to a bigtime FCS venue. I hope you guys take advantage of a program in flux and kick their SEC asses.
Sure, the rest of us would have to put up with annoying braggadocio in the aftermath, but there has been some precedent for that from posters of another unnamed school.

You know what though. Other than our 5 game series with Idaho we don't really play middling FBS schools. We play PAC 10, Big !0, Big 12, and now SEC.93henfan wrote:You can tell it's the middle of summer. I'm surprised there hasn't been more reaction to this.

Reasoning is the same as always though. They are the only ones that can make the payday worth it.
