Post by bjtheflamesfan »

Kickers:

Charleston Southern

John Paglia 16-22 FG 28-30 PAT 76 pts All Big South Second Team

Coastal Carolina

Justin Durham 13-19 FG 20-22 PAT 59 pts (led team)

Gardner Webb

Ryan Gates 13-16 FG 38-38 PAT 77 pts (led team)

Liberty

Matt Bevins 22-26 FG 41-42 PAT 107 pts All Big South First Team (Consensus All-American)

Presbyterian

Aaron Mayes 6-12 FG 21-24 PAT 39 pts (led team)

Stony Brook

Wesley Skiffington 15-17 FG 26-30 PAT 71 pts (led team)

VMI

Jeff Sexton 3-6 FG 26-29 PAT 35 pts

This one wasnt as hard to rank at the top...getting to teh middle is where it gets a bit challenging...

1. Matt Bevins, Liberty
2. Ryan Gates, Gardner-Webb
3. John Paglia, Charleston Southern
4. Justin Durham, Coastal Carolina
5. Wesley Skiffington, Stony Brook
6. Jeff Sexton, VMI
7. Aaron Mayes, Presbyterian

Punters

Charleston Southern

Andy Brown 42 punts 35.5 avg 4 TBs, 10 Inside 20Y

Coastal Carolina

Ben Erdman 51 punts 33.1 avg 2 TBs 9 Inside 20Y

Gardner Webb

Graham Purvis 39 punts 37.0 avg 0 TBs 10 Inside 20Y

Liberty

Mike Larsson 40 punts 36.7 avg 2 TB 18 Inside 20Y All Big South Second Team

Presbyterian

Patrick Morgano 47 punts 37.1 avg 3 TBs 9 Inside 20Y

Stony Brook

Drew Evangelista 55 punts 36.7 3 TBs 16 Inside 20Y

VMI

Marc Ray 41 punts 38.9 avg (led Big South) 1 TBs 13 Inside 20Y All Big South First Team

This one is a little tougher because the numbers are so close between all the punters but Id rank them this way:

1. Marc Ray, VMI
2. Mike Larsson, Liberty
3. Andy Brown, Charleston Southern
4. Ben Erdman, Coastal Carolina
5. Drew Evangelista, Stony Brook
6. Graham Purvis, Gardner Webb
7. Patrick Morgano, Presbyterian

I'll add the kick and punt returners later

Paglia at CSU has an absolute cannon for a leg and may be the most effective player overall on the Bucs' roster. Last year, he was really good at 40+ yards and was regularly drilling kickoffs for touchbacks with just a two-step approach.

Skiffington was just marked a 3rd Team Pre-Season All American...I doubt that in reality he's not even in the top 4 of his own conference.

As I said, in the preface, After 1-2, I pretty much knew that it was gonna be tough to rank 3-5 and that any of those guys could go in any order and somebody wouldnt be happy with it. Skiffington is a very good kicker and that will bear out this year but its gonna be a battle I think for the two all conference slots at that position

I should rephrase my earlier point...if Bevins is like he was last year he easily will be first team kicker, thus making it a four way battle between Gates, Paglia, Skiffington and Durham for second team
