on back to back days Mariano and Papelbon have blown their loads.Willie wrote:Papelbon blows his load in the 9th. Yankees win.

I half expected this from Mo though due to his lack of work the last 2 weeks.

Re: Official New York Yankees Thread
I'm with you. Bad move to bring Mo in for a four-out save with the bases loaded after he had barely pitched in the last two weeks. Should have let Joba try to get the last out in the 8th. Mo was not sharp and was missing his spots.Willie wrote:I half expected this from Mo though due to his lack of work the last 2 weeks.

One thing I've learned from the Yankees/Twins series, Jason Kubel is a Yankee killer

Re: Official New York Yankees Thread
It's so hard for some of us Twins fans to ever completely turn on Kuebs. He has started like complete shit this year, but he pulls shit like this out often enough to keep him playing.Gil Dobie wrote:One thing I've learned from the Yankees/Twins series, Jason Kubel is a Yankee killer

if teams dropped players because of early struggles Boston would be without David Ortiz's .350 11HR 20+ RBI May... The New York Post's Joel Sherman broke a story early this morning reporting that the Yankees and the Mariners are about to pull the trigger on a deal which sends Cliff Lee to the Yankees. Lee starts tonight against the Yankees but may be a Yankee before the weekend is over.

Who are we sending to Seattle then? Burnett? Deal would send Lee to the evil empire for prospects Jesus Montero (C, 1B), David Adams (2B), and a PTBNL.

By the way, you can all go fuck yourselves if you get Lee.

Re: Official New York Yankees Thread
Eh, it was a foregone conclusion that Lee was going to the Bronx as soon as the season was over anyway - this just speeds up the process by 2-3 months, nothing more. And it just costs the Yankees the CC-like salary that only they and the Red Sox could even afford (I think Lee gets more than CC, IMO) and it costs them their best minor leaguer (don't know much about Adams admittedly). Par for the course in baseball.93henfan wrote:Deal would send Lee to the evil empire for prospects Jesus Montero (C, 1B), David Adams (2B), and a PTBNL.

This guy is fucking high...
Hughes has already won 10 goddamn games...WHY would the Yankees move him to the pen? If they get Lee and keep Vazquez, he will be going to the pen.Andrew Marchand (ESPN) wrote:At this point, the Yankees have no plans on a corresponding move if they finalize the Cliff Lee deal.
The options on the table are the following:
* Phil Hughes could go to the bullpen.
* They could trade Javier Vazquez.
* They could go to a six-man rotation.

Agreed. they have made some questionable calls with their staff in the past, but even they cant screw up this decision.Willie wrote:This guy is fucking high...

I'm still hoping there are still available tickets and seats for the game play. My friends are planning to watch Yankees game. It is their much awaited game of the year.

How's the Yankee/Tampa game going? The Western burbs are in a tornado warning, so FOX is broadcasting the radar weather until the warning passes.
