Tron Martinez heading to Marshall
A lot of you probably never heard of him but he was a former ODU recruit who was all set to play at ODU but is now heading to Marshall. The kid never got a chance to play for ODU because of legal issues. Great to hear that he got a 2nd chance, both the head coach at Marshall and Bobby Wilder at ODU made the right choice.

hahaha
anyway, Marshall is supposed to be pretty decent this year at least according to the Athlon Sports College Football preivew...their prediction is them finishing 7-5, 3rd in their division in the CUSA and going up against NC State in the EagleBank Bowl.
Re: Tron Martinez heading to Marshall
And that right there is why moving "up" doesn't sound so appealing to me. Nothing better than a trip to DC in Dec/Jan to celebrate your 7-5 season at the "elite" level. What a bonus.futureodualum11 wrote:...and going up against NC State in the EagleBank Bowl.
Heck, at least you get to fly to Dallas now if your team goes all the way in FCS.

to be honest, I've thought the same thing about all the rumors about ODU moving up. Thats why I hope if and when ODU moves up its to the ACC or Big East if those conferences are still around.93henfan wrote:And that right there is why moving "up" doesn't sound so appealing to me. notice I said "IF" and "WHEN". And like Towson has any plans for moving up? But then again I guess you'd have to have a good athletic department first....
...also if you really want me too I'll glady accept your offer to find the article saying that the CAA right now is good for ODU but they should probably make changes in the future if they want to maintain financial success. It's not as unrealistic as it sounds.
Re: Tron Martinez heading to Marshall
ODU doesn't really seem to fit the profile of the ACC. Every school there is a tier one national university (per US News). The Big East would make better sense, considering ODU would pull in the Norfolk TV market and the Big East has a larger range of academic profiles among its members. For every Syracuse, Rutgers, and Pitt at the top end, there's a WVU, South Florida, and Louisville.futureodualum11 wrote:andy7171 wrote:![]()

If and when ODU moves up, it'll be to the MAC or Sun Belt. Maybe if you're lucky C-USA.

I've heard the C-USA also. If thats the case I'd much rather not move up.andy7171 wrote:If and when ODU moves up, it'll be to the MAC or Sun Belt. Maybe if you're lucky C-USA.
